first, my band wants to put musical intros and interludes in our show, plus bass drops ect.
so how should we incorporate the effects like reverse reverb, bass drops ect? maybe use our pc with Cubase and route that track to the mixer?

second, we want to put our vocals through an effects track with autotune a and delay, should we do that through Cubase too and run throgh the interfacer then to the house pa?

and third, we wanna play to a click, how could we do that in everyones in ears, and hear vocals in the In ears too??put one of the vocal track send to the click track channel and run that through it? im trying to do everything right. any input is greatly appreciated!!

I got a focusrite liquid saffire 56 and a peavey 8 channel powered mixer, aswell as the pc
thanks for any help!!

this video shws a lot of those examples. he has a big bass drop, and a few song clips that fit perfect, and they all def are playing to a click it sounds. how do you achieve that? at 1:55 he doe a scream andit has a lot of delay but nothing else does toovideo shws a lot of those examples. he has a big bass drop, and a few song clips that fit perfect, and they all def are playing to a click it sounds. how do you achieve that? at 1:55 he doe a scream andit has a lot of delay but nothing else does too

Not sure why you doubled your post inside your post!

Generally it is not advised to use a DAW for live performance, latency and possible freezing would make things bad in a live situation. You can't do 'reverse reverb' live - it requires reversing the track (so it has to be recorded first), applying reverb, then reversing the reverb.
'Bass drop' - if you mean a pitch shift, that along with autotune and delays would be better handled live via stand-alone FX units.
Playing to a click track as well as backing tracks can be handled by a good mixer that has busses for setting up monitor mixes - using your computer and pre-recorded tracks is different than using a DAW for live FX.

I am going to go out on a limb here as I have not done this, but have been thinking about it for some time.

First, to the click. I would have the drummer listen for the click and keep time there, not every one. Or keep a beat in the monitors from the DAW.

Second, Latency, this would be an issue, however, if you get all of the tracks recorded with the effects, then you can up your buffers and reduce your CPU load. Have no other processing.

Third, this is where you would need something like an Ableton Live another person running it and probably a controller (like APC40 or Push). I don't know Cubase and I don't get commissions from Ableton, but I know in their session view, with clips and scenes, this can be done. You could route sound through the channel for live effects, but I will be honest, I think it would require a lot of horsepower.

Fourth, rehearse like hell as the timing would have to be really good. While you can improvise with Ableton, you have a lot more going on and everyone needs to be on the same page. Plus, you are moving into more of a show, and just like any show, practice, rehearsing and everyone needs to follow the script. I watched two guys on New Years that opened for Bootsy, bass and a guy doing the DAW/controller. It went really well. But they were very tight and knew exactly what they were doing.

I think you can do it, I am talking with a guy myself contemplating on taking his show to the next level. So, I've thought about it and think it will work. But it is just a theory at this point for me.

alright well after lots of thinking and consideration, we are gonna try it. we work close with the guy that records us, so hes gonna put all of our bass drops, reverse reverbs, song intros, synths on one track, were gonna parallel that with the click track and route the click just to the drummer, and let the backing/fx track run through he pa. im not worrying about my daw messing up live at all, its a beast. were thinking about using the liquid pre amps too for our vox through the saffire 56 and then to the house pa from its outputs. it would give a smooth sound from the nice pre amps, and I could make a bus for the click track and vox for the ear mix

any kinks with any of this? or should It all go smooth?

I doubt it will go smooth as you are introducing one more (or more) thing that can go wrong. But it is worth a shot.

we use the pc all the time in the practice room for vocal effects chained to the powered mixer. iguess Ill set it up like these and we will play the set a few times

Akai MPC1000, can hold samples as a wave file or mp3, can run midi to generate a click track, and you can sequence the whole song if you wish and play along to the click track with predetermined samples triggering, or play the MPC live and generate the effects, samples , etc.

And does not crash during a gig. You can pick these up fairly cheap now second hand, look for extra memory fitted or the optional hard drive, though you can save a lot of material on the larger CF cards.

auto-tuning your vocals live is an effect. You will not fool anyone into thinking your singing on key. It sounds mechanical and fake, just like it's supposed to. Also, it's not as precise as you might think. If you're not within shouting distance of the note you think you should be singing, the auto-tuner will not know that, and will tune to the nearest note IT thinks it should.

Why not try putting the correct vocal in your ear and sing to that? Or, if that requires too much effort or talent, record your auto corrected vocal, and send that to FOH. Then all you have to do is lip synch.
