Question about interface!

Hello
I recently purchased M-audio octane 8 but the problem is I am trying to use adat out..so in a order to do that I will need to buy
interface with Adat I/O correct?
It's kinda hard to find cheap interface with Adat I/0 anyone know good interface that has Adat I/O??
since I am trying to use laptop to record it cannot be PCi interface.
if you have any suggestion please let me know!

This is correct.
Take a look at the Motu 828 mk1,2 or 3 as a start. I'm sure there are more like it.

since my amp is 8 channel do I have to use 8 channel interface also?
or it doesn't matter?
also,is there any other cheaper interfaces out there?
 
No, as long as the interface has a lightpipe input capable of carrying 8 channels, you're golden.

Unless you've some reason, there's no need to have two separate pieces of gear.
You could just sell the octane and buy a tascam us1800 or presonus firepod.

Unfortunately you're not likely to find a cheap interface with adat input, as you'll always be paying for other functionality too.
Anything with adat is likely to have 8 mic/line ins, spdif, midi, etc.

well I want to record full band in live sound ..so I think I might use up to 12~16 depend on how many singers we have that day..
between M-audio octane 8 + 8channel interface and multitrack recorder 16 channel which one is better deal?
I am afraid of buying multitrack because I heard many ppl saying sometimes it doesn't run well with their laptops or desktops... since some of them comes with free software they cannot return it... so yea...
