I own an AT2020 mic that i use for vocals and i am happy with but i think it would be fun to play with another mic that sounds different! Any suggestions on mics?
PS Nothing over $1000 lol thats outta my budget!!!!

I can't imagine not having either a SM7b (personal preference) or a RE-20 for vocals... Far and away the most used vox mics I have.

Yes, far more than the U87, which really isn't all that great of a vocal mic by comparison IMO... But for strings or wind instruments? Sure.

7b, RE20, PR40, MD421 -- All basically tailored for the human voice (although they're certainly capable of more). You're doing yourself a disservice not having a couple to choose from... Pick any 3 for around $1k (or just grab a 7b and a P-Solo and there's your vocal chain for just about anything).

Hey Im a newbie here and see the term "VOX" used here a lot, can you tell me what that means thanks !!

if you snag an RE20 used, you'll have roughly enough cash to scoop up Lindell Audio's 6-slot rack, and build yourself a DIY 1073 clone preamp for said rack.
