Dang. He knew.

Well, the SM7B is probably the most accurate large dynamic in it's price range--a basically neutral frequency response with a pleasant warmth that is very pleasing on many sources.

Good enough?

(And how did you know that, Henry...most non Australians haven't even heard of Aussie Rules, much less know the team nicknames?)

Nah, not a fan of the SM7B (or the RE20 for that matter) but my tastes in microphones tend to be for a much crisper, more defined sound than a large dynamic gives--hence my preference for condensers.

I actually have a theory that there's a genuine cultural difference--I've noticed, for example, that American radio tends to have a much warmer sound by choice than UK stations--and big dynamics are ubiquitous in US radio stations while most UK broadcasters use condensers. It may be what you grow up listening to!

Sounds fair. I'd be the exception there but I still think it's valid.

I always wrote it off as the recording medium that made UK TV and radio sound that way.
 
Link worked for me that time.

It brought back all sorts of memories--"Sounds of Silence" was one of the first LPs I ever bought as a teenager and I played it over...and over...and over...and over again. Back then I knew the words to Richard Cory (and every other song on the album) off by heart.

Nice recording...would be even better via an sE2200a! :)

Nope. Google for pics of UK radio studios and you'll almost always see a condenser--and a fairly even mix of SDC and LDC.

By the way Moresound, the pie army were a little flat at the end of the game, go the mighty dockers LOL, actually quite a few of the pie army were pie eyed too.

No, a few were having trouble finding the railway station so there were probably a few cars stolen.

Going back a few years: after a game that Fremantle won against Collywobbles a toothless fan tried to set fire to my wife's hair, but his lighter wouldn't work. Actually Collingwood fans seem to be on the improve, a far cry from the old Victoria park days LOL.

Eddie everywhere (Collingwood president) has claimed that they are the biggest team in the world membership wise, they have 74,741 members at the moment, and have put them on a par to Man United in the UK. Fremantle have over 40,000. It's funny when talking to people overseas about Aussie Rules football, they say, "How many go to a game?" and I reply that at the MCG (Melbourne) they have 60,000 to 100,000 regular, at our stadium we can fit 46,000 and usually it is between 39,000 and full house each game. It's the most popular sport in Oz.

I know! I show friends in the music biz here concerts at stadiums in Europe and Oz and they are amazed at the size of the structures and attendance.
