I had a couple of riffs. I had a lot of words. I put them together to make a song. I hope it doesn't suck. :D

SHOULD OF DONE DO

Should of Done Do (words and music by RAMI)

Once upon a time is a mighty fine opening line when I'm dieing to find something to say
No lesson this session just confessing pleading chronic possession and I'm only messing around
Tic toc and you don't stop no this ain't no hip hop the clock is ticking while I'm talking to you
No riddle when you diddle with your little fiddle meet me in the middle where the sun don't shine

Never did done what I should of done do
Big fat brother that son of a gun's got an eye on you

Chorus:
Never did done what I should of done do
The future looks bright behind me
Never did done what I should of done do

Cut my neck on a blade I made from the hearts clubs diamonds and the spades life laid on me
Mirror mirror on the wall watch the blood fall total recall and it's all a bad dream
Big surprise when you realize staring at the real lies reeling at the real world with real eyes
The same game all but the names remain the same got no one to blame ain't that a shame

Never did done what I should of done do
Big brother that futher-mucking son of a gun's got an eye on you

Chorus:
Never did done what I should of done do
The future looks bright behind me
Never did done what I should of done do

Slow down no one throwing down a showdown bound to go around and come around and round again
Take a ride throw your pride aside you'll find nothing to hide on the other side

Chorus:
Never did done what I should of done do
The future looks bright behind me
Never did done what I should of done do

Big fat futher-mucking son of a gun

I've just listened on my phone and it sounds great on that. A real fun/funky track. Love that riff! I'll blast it out tomorrow and have a good listen.

:thumbs up:

'No riddle when you diddle with your little fiddle meet me in the middle.' I love it when you talk dirty and rhyme...at the same time. Good tune & lyrics, can't really comment on the recording but I like the lyrics a bunch. All the better for the general feeling of angst, regret, pissed-offedness and speed, if that's what was intended. Didn't suck one bit FYI.

Rami,

Nice work - composition. I enjoyed listening to this. Nice tight mix. Nice vocals. Well done.

8Track.

Thanx man. Let me know how it sounds tomorrow. I'll have probably re-mixed it 15 times by that time. :D

Thanx Frits. :)

Yeah, it's a little angry. a little toungue-in-cheek (no pun intended), a little stressed...but I couldn't tell you what any of it means. It's really just a bunch of bullshit.

Thanx a lot, 8.

Still not happy with the mix. Can't put my fingers on it. I think it's the vocals, they're either too loud or too low....or something.

Hmmm, not my favorite Rami tune, but this is done very well. Maybe boost the vocals just a tiny bit. Drums sounds great as always. I like the reverb you used for them on this one. Guitars sound crunchy and clear. I think the mix is well balanced and everything works well. Maybe just a hair more vocal.

I thought this was real cool...was that a little slide guitar around 2:40? Tight as hell, sounds great on my headphones...very catchy

Thanx Greg. I just re-mixed it and turned the vocals up a notch.

This is probably the first time in a few years that I'm just using the sound coming out of my amp. I spent a lot of time experimenting during the "2 bit Disaster of 2013" and really played with the knobs and especially mic placement. I was always putting my guitar tracks through things like Marshall Impulse Responses and all kinds of shit when I should have just been working on the sound coming out of my amp. I still find there's a sizzle in my sound in the 4.5-5k range that I don't like. But until I get a tube amp, at least I can live with what I got now.

I used Flashverb on the drums for the first time. I think I like it too.

One day, I'll go through my VST folder and get rid of 90% of the plug-ins I have in there. I have thousands of plug-ins and pretty much use the same 2 or 3 EQ's, reverbs, and compressors.

This must be the one I'm listening to because levels sound perfect. I like where your OH's are at. I usually find they are always too buried, but not this time. I like the guitar tones. Meaty and not cheesy.

Great song. Near the top of my Rami tunes.

Very cool song and good performances. The balances are solid; everything has it's own place. I'd work on differentiating section from section. Automate, automate, automate. Right now it feels like it plays start to finish without much change or variance. I always feel like that's what separates a cool mix from a super cool mix. Grab any Rich Costey record, maybe one of the Muse records for reference. The guy is a master at it.

Great job, though!

Yep, as I suspected, it sounds great loud! I can't offer anything on the new mix as I only listening on my phone to the first mix you put up but this mix sounds great to me.

I'll be humming and singing this all day! :thumbs up:

Thax a lot Chili. I remember you mentioning my overheads in the past, and I've made an effort to turn down the snare so that I can get the OV's up because of that. I appreciate that.

Thanx a lot. Good advice on the automation. I'll look into that when I re-mix this, which I'm sure I will. Thanx for the advice.

I think that's pretty common with many SS combos. I have a little SS combo that I used to use and it has that same spike that I hear in your tracks. It's uncanny really. Your amp sounds better than mine did, but there are similar characteristics. I don't know if it's SS design, or just cheap speakers they put in some combos, but I hear that same telltale sound in pretty much every SS combo I've ever heard. It's like a hollow hiss in the upper mids. It's not really bad, but it's something that's there. I think you'll be really happy with a tube amp. The sound is just more dimensional. It's richer. I think your guitar style would sound superb through a Vox or Marshall. Your writing, drums, vocals, bass, mixing, and guitar playing are all fantastic. All you're missing is a killer guitar tone.

Thanx, yeah I can't wait. I'm just scared that when I get one I'm going to go back and re-do so many guitar tracks because I won't be able to live with the SS sound when I know a better guitar sound will improve the tunes a lot. I hope I can hold myself back from that and just move forward with new tunes.

Lol, yeah, I know that feeling. I've been doing just that for some of my stuff. Mostly with old covers. I'll go back and re-do the guitars with my new equipment and treat it as practice/experimentation. I don't like to experiment with new original material. But with old stuff and covers, they're my guinea pigs. I just got some new drum mics and I'm about to re-head my kit and plow through a bunch of cover songs so I can learn them well before using them for new original stuff. I'm excited about it. That shit is fun to me.

Definately different from your other tunes, very unique lyrics, but works very well. Sounds real good.

I like this. Nice one Rami. I might have spread those guitars out a little bit. If it were mine, which, quite obviously it is not. In any case it's cool.

Side note, I second Gerg's recommendation for the Vox. I have been noodling around with one at the local Long and McQuade. After I tie the knot this summer and gtfo of this stupid apartment I have plans for a real amp. Vox or possibly a Hiwatt are on my lists of things to investigate. Hiwatt seems to be hard to come by in this neck of the woods though.

Drums sound awesome.

I have some serious issues with your grammar though!

I like the guitar tones here better than the last track. They seem to have more mid-range substance. What kind of guitar(s?) do you use? Now that I know the amp situation, I'm curious.
