You mean bitch, right?

:D

Some basic civility would be appreciated. And I am fairly certain that you when you registered for these forums you agreed to some basic rules about obscenity, vulgarity, sexually-oriented and hateful expressions or harassment outside of designated areas. This is a community (albeit an online one) and I am as much a member of this community as you are. If I can refrain from name-calling and veiled sexist verbiage, then I think you can too.

So it's ok to call a guy a prick, but not a woman a bitch? Either way, I wasn't calling you anything. I agree with what you said above.

I was just correcting Bob, rather than giving my opinion of what I think of you. I don't know you, so I have no reason to call you anything, good or bad.

I don't recall calling anyone any names - male or female - nor did I ever say that I condoned name calling. In fact, I thought I was very clear about my views on treating members of a community with civility, so I don't see where you would get the notion that I condone name-calling of any kind.

If you sincerely don't believe that saying something like, "You mean bitch, right?" could be considered offensive or name-calling, I can assure you now that it could. If someone were to call your female boss by a different name and you "corrected" them by saying, "You mean bitch, right?" would you expect to keep your job? If not, then saying, "You mean bitch, right?" can probably generally be considered offensive or name-calling.

You did have the option to correct him by saying, "Triquee is female, not male," but you chose instead to say (in essence), "Triquee is a bitch, not a prick."

I never said you did. Like I said, I was humorously (whether you foundit funny or not is a different story) trying to correct Bob on what HE was trying to say.

I can't help how you perceive something. Like I said, I was simply correcting-just see above.

But you're not my boss and there is no hierarchy I have to respect here. You're just another poster that seems to be wound up a little too tight.

Yes, but I chose not to do that. He already called you a prick. I could have stayed in the same anatomical area and suggested he call you the female equivelant of a prick, but I chose to go more generic, and I put a smiley at the end of my post. :)

but you chose instead to say (in essence), "Triquee is a bitch, not a prick."
No, you choose to take it that way. Like I said, I wasn't calling you anything.

Anyway...

I have given you as much of my attention now as I am willing to give you. In the interest of saving us both time and wasted energy, I do not plan to respond to any more of your posts and I will be placing you on my ignore list.

May The Force be with you.

No need to do that. I was talking to Bob. You started talking to me. So, in actuality, I'm the one that will stop responding to your posts. :)

Your opinion was predicated on the assumption that I was worried that someone would steal my song. .
your peace of mind was predicated on the possibility that someone would steal your song .... you even said so mentioning that you'd had no idea it might have value so you wanted it protected.
You're trying that round about arguing crap where you make up what was said and keep changing it as you go along.
Now I was trying to be nice and simply give my opinion but you're acting like a prick for no real reason.
So good luck to you and your music.

Is the song for me? hug.webp

Your song is already copyrighted. You would only be registering the copyright.
No one is going to steal your song.
Never ever sell your song. You sell a license to use it.

I've already explained my reasoning for wanting to copyright the song. I have also explained that I am still quite new to songwriting and am learning as I go. If you have some information to impart about how copyright works or tips about the music biz, I am all ears. However, it is not necessary to insist that you know better than I do, what my thoughts, intentions and motivations were/are in the process. I don't know how else to say the same damn thing.

The thing that just occurred to me and the only reason I can imagine for the hostility is that when I said I wanted to copyright the song, some of you thought that somehow I was implying that I wanted to protect it from the folks on these forums?? That is ridiculous and I would never do that or even hope to imply that. I've been coming here and reading these forums and contributing for a year and a half. Is that what some of you thought??!!

In a way I hope so, because here I had come to think of these forums as a supportive yet quirky and cool place to hang out. If that's not the case and some of you are being vicious just for the sake of being vicious then this place isn't at all what I once thought it was.

I don't know how else to reason this except to chalk it up to misunderstanding. I suppose I overestimate the clarity of my communication. I never imagined that anyone here would assume I thought they would steal my work. That thought came out of left field for me. A surprising "a-ha" moment.

Still, if it was a misunderstanding (which I'm hoping it was) that sure was a shitty way to handle it.

That's how I took it and I found it very offensive. You basically called me a thief, and you know, it really hurt.

I saw it as unjustified and petty worrying. Whether you register your copyright or not won't stop anyone from stealing your song. So, you have a person interested in your song, they aren't going to steal it because they already expressed their interest in it to you. If they want to use your song, join BMI or ASCAP (BMI is free) and they can pay their royalties to you that way.
As I said before, your song is already copyrighted. As soon as you put it into a tangible form, like papaer, cd, computer file, etc; it became your property.

You should register your copyright, but pulling it from soundcloud becuase you haven't done that yet seems ridiculous. I think that's what everyone jumped on. Except Greg, he felt insulted.

I would like to hear the song, so put it back up and let us listen. I think you sing great.

dude/girl ..... it wasn't the idea that you may have thought someone would steal it. It was your nasty responses to people who simply piped up to say no one would steal it.
"I didn't know your opinion was required or desired" and that kind of stuff to everyone that commented. YOU were the one that got rude first and for no reason.
A simple "Thanks for the opinion but I'll feel better if I copywrite it" or words to that effect would have sufficed instead of telling everyone you didn't appreciate they're daring to have an opinion.
But right now you just seem to be one that takes offense at the mere suggestion that anyone knows anything that you don't.
Just don't be so uptight and looking for reasons to take offense.
