Son of Yoda
Howdy... I'm currently recording my ode to space travel... called "Gravity (Like A Spaceman)" and I've decided that what may be cool in the intro and outro is a bunch of people saying Neil Armstrong's immortal phrase "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind". When we do it live I run a sample of NA at the end, but don't want to infringe anyone's copyright by using it in a recording...

So, if you'd like to be immortalised in someone else's song, could I ask you to record that sentence in yours, or someone else's voices and post a .wav file that I can download?

Specifics:

"That's one small step for a man (pause), one giant leap (slight pause) for mankind" - the "a" is often missed, but it's there....
It should be said at a pace such that the entire phrase takes 5 - 6 seconds
Spoken normally, not like you're doing a movie trailer...
Particularly looking for different accents from around the world
Particularly looking also for any women and children, so if you can persuade your wife/GF and kidlets to take part, that would be awesome
No processing of any type, just the raw voice

Thanks. If it ever makes it onto a CD, I'll mention the voices, so just give me a name to use if you want to be mentioned...

Thank you in advance!

I'll be doing this right after I come home from school! Just a question: So the person reading the dialogue will be like narrating, right?

Just people speaking in their normal voice is what I'm looking for - not someone trying to narrate something as such, I mean make it sound good, but I'm not looking for the big announcer style thing.... just normal people saying it.

Cheers

are you still interested? I can give this a try. no guarantees though. I'll try using my chest voice, since it's the only thing I've worked from my singing program.

Still? I only posted it about an hour ago..

I'll probably need 20 to 30 different samples, so yep, absolutely...

Hey - I am game. I do have an idea based on tons of collabs. Why don't you record it with the phrasing and tempo you want as a guide track for others when they are doing their version?

I can give you a reeeeeally welshey version if you want. In case you need some comic relief.

Thought of that... two reasons... (a) I'm at work at the moment and won't be near a microphone for hours... (b) I actually don't want everyone to sound the same... hence the 5 - 6 seconds and the pause instructions.. I reckon that should get it close enough...

Cheers
