Dude, that looks ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!! Any tips, tricks, or anecdotes you'd like to share?

This was the second time I attended and it was just a great if not better than last year's.
This year, they even gave away a Ribbon Mic, Mic Cables and other items! :thumbs up:

Friday night, they recorded a "Live-Band" playing in the Studio and anyone sitting in the Control Room could just walk up to the Console and tweak away.
Want to change EQ on a vocal? Go ahead! Want more cowbell? ;-) Increase the gain. More Guitar? Less Guitar? Change it! Pretty Cool.

The panelists were great too! Just ordinary folks like you and me but having honed their skills to a very high-level and having had the opportunities to have worked with some of the very best. And the stories that are shared? They are the greatest.

They video-taped "Cowboy" Jack Clement's session for inclusion in the Archives of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I thought I heard Public Television mentioned but not exactly sure if I heard that correctly or not. Nonetheless, he was great. He sang songs, told stories and seemed to have a great time while sharing his knowledge and history with the rest of us. FYI, he was a Recording Engineer at the Famous "Sun Studio" in Memphis, Tennessee a la Elvis Presley fame and many others.

I really liked the DIY Session. (surprise!). They showed how to build preamps, modify microphones, build ribbon mics and so on.
Although I was not a DIY Session Panelist, they still allowed me to talk about my DIY Build Plans for Low-Cost studio desks and stuff which was pretty nice to allow me to do so.

Interestingly, the "Welcome to 1979" Recording Studio is in a building that used to be a vinyl record pressing business/facility so keeping the analog theme is pretty cool too.

I can't say it enough but Chris and Yoli Mara have been doing this for a number of years and they are great hosts.
They have also developed a close-knit group that really supports them year after year.

All for for $175???
Definitely a No-Brainer.

Bob Ohlsson is probably one of the most knowledgeable guys alive today.

Cheers :)

He was a great panelist too!
Started at Motown in 1962 and went from there.
Amazing guy and very personable on top of that.

Huh. Being as I live in Nashville, I probably should have gone to this.

Do they have a website for next year's?

This is a link to their "Summit" for 2013 Summit .
There is an email link on that page to ask for more details.

Did you not see the card that came with the mic, the one that said "Please kindly pass on to that Grimtraveller guy in London" ?

Unfortunately, I didnt win the mic. Otherwise you'd have it by now! ;)

I spent a fortune getting those cards printed !
