It had better be ! I've not heard of any DAW or recording machine on which it's not possible. In fact, that would render the entire business of recording obsolete ! So I'm not sure what you actually mean.
Care to elaborate ?

Make and model of amp PLEASE! (Mods: There orta be a law!)

It is very likely that your amplifier acts as a (somewhat crude!) Audio Interface and so yes, Cubase should find it, tho' you might not be able to use the greatly prefered ASIO drivers with it.

Do you already have Cubase? If not there are vastly simpler free recording softwares that will do the job...Audacity, Energy XT, Samplitude Silver and many others.

Hmm sounds complicated
No, somewhere on the amplifier there should be a plate with make and model number on it. Then you should have a handbook? If not put said m&m into google and you will likely find one to download, might even be some free software to go with is sucha as Fender's "Fuse".

Yes, Cubase IS complicated (compared to many recording softwares) but again, you should have a book, unless you have cracked software, in which case, Go Away. Then the infernal net bulges with information about Cubase. It does take a bit of systematic thought to setup computer recording, but hey! Join the TWENTIETH Century!

im using a pevey vypyr amp. yes i already have cubase, no it aint cracked n ive been recording music using various software/equipment for the last 17 years so i know fine well how complicated it gets Dave ;) . my issue is i usualy record live instruments on a mixer then transfer it to cubase. but for my current project it wld b much better having the guitar playing live through cubase for recording. tried connecting usb n cubase doesnt seem to pick it up. looked through manual n didnt help. hope that explains my querie a bit better n if any digital music gurus can tell me if it can be done id b very gratefull as ive already wasted days trying to work it out!

copied off of a youtube video of a guy playing through his daw with the same amp.

"Pretty straightforward really, when the Vypyr is plugged in via usb it should show up as its own sound card, mine showed as Vypyr 75 but has also showed up as USB Audio Device as well. When setting up your recording software, select this sound card as the input and it should work."

Looks like you will have to select the vyper as the input source for cubase, you might also have to set that at the computer also. under sound management in control panel.

Aha! Just tried two usb devices into Cubase (essential 4) and neither show.
One is a Dazzle video capture device and the other is the Behringer UCA-202 interface.

The only way to get Cubase to "see" a generic driver usb audio device is, AFAIK to "wrap" it with ASIO4all.

Both Audacity and Samplitude silver found the "USB AUDIO CODEC" bish-bosh.

Personally I would use a simple DAW like Audacity and then export the .wav for treatment in Cubase.

Rewire maybe? I have never had much luck with that myself.

is there are driver download for that amp ? I would think with the USB connections you could upgrade the amp, and get drivers for it.
