Hey Henry UA solo 610?? Good?

Comme-ci, comme-ça ..... All of these that have been mentioned in this thread are all about in the same class - just a bit different taste for different folks per unit.

it's odd, i've looked at the UAD 610 solo for a while and almost got one (it was part of a set with an sE2200T) but changed my mind in the end (mainly because i found a found a different mic that worked better for what i needed it for). i have a lot of respect for UA stuff in general but the solo doesn't seem to pop up in conversation very often, whereas the GAP pre-73 and ISA One do.... maybe it's just a price thing?

I bought the GAP....now to improve my cheap ass mic collection :)

Im looking forward to it...think i might pick up a meekbox strip anyway as theyre soo cheap...

Maybe you could do a meek versus gap review in the mp3 clinic so those of us who do not own them can compare and see which flavour we like best please.

And the Neve sound wins again - thank you very much.

KC if your looking to expand your microphone collection let me know what your looking for and I can more than likely set you up with some *like new* used microphones.

Not sure ill put it in the clinic but i could do a comparison if i get one :)

Oh youd be the first id got too for advice anyway...i think ill see how i get by with my old 67g for the time being

Hwy while we're on the meek stuff have you used the MC2?

Im thinking for synths with the line gain and stereo width...would you rate it against the RNC??

Do you have the RNC already? I've heard good things about the RNMP and those two go well together. Ah, but I just saw you already got a GAP mic pre. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it.

Ok so it arrived around four hours go...and actually takes a little to set up for only having two knobs...had a hell of a ground loop hum but DI'd it and its gone...at first it was kinda breaking up at high gain but I wasnt using the instrument input at the front, then dialing in the gain takes a little getting used to with the stepped knob, once i got everything balanced it sounds effin' sweet...
ive been blasting in through GR5 and it really brings my tele alive, enough to give the sound much more of a 3D vibe than software...ill try it on vocals and and micing an amp tomorrow...i hope its good with a mic as its sounding sweet with my guitar...shit forgot to try my bass :)

I went with a scarlet 18i6 and an octopre mkII for clean recording...so it wouldnt be fair to compare the pres on it rather than the ISA one i considered

intrigued now mmmmm

Unless your pushing the gain, or directly A/Bing it, its not totally obvious at first...but add a little colour and then it starts to shine, push it even more and you can really overdrive it

And it reeks quality...if someone was to double its price you wouldnt guess...im a bit slow on the uptake with musical equipment sometimes, but this is worth every penny...unfortunately ive just tracked some bass and guitars recently and im going to have to go back to them

Going to run my moog through it as well....bass in your face :D

Was going to say kip even though im a synth guy ive been really trying to get away from that cold digital sound recently...even considered going tape but it would be too much for me to handle...if you want to take that off your strings this is great for it...dunno about vocals yet

Ive been using acustica nebula as well...really starts to glue instruments together and takes away that brittleness digital recordings can have

Well, I've always toyed with the idea of getting something like True P-Solo or Grace M-101... but now I'm reconsidering. Always good to hear when someone has been pleasantly surprised with their purchase. :)

Im thinking theyre going to be way cleaner than this Dave...my initial impression is this is great for guitars and bass...it adds a lot of colour and Im going to say thats also more bottom end when it comes to my vocals...mine are mid range vocals, and my mic is mid rangy so thats not a problem for what little I do, but Im not sure its what everyone would want..Its only really clean at low levels and Im not sure how much quality for $$ my ears hear when things are so subtle, youll be different Im sure

i'm still very VERY tempted by the True P-solo V2. i'd love to hear a comparison between that, the GAP pre-73, the ISA One, and the Warm Audio pre.

I'm still waiting for an ISA Two to come up used on t'bay

EDIT: just saw True Systems ribbon preamp . Any one heard/tried one?
