il get straight to the point , i have the following setup
1.macbook pro
2.shure sm58 (no pop filter)
3.presonus audiobox usb interface

first off - whenever i record vocals there is a periodic static that comes in. if i unplug and plug the interface back it stops. anyone who could tell me why this is ?
also
i record in a 18x15 feet bedroom - any tips or thread links for me to get optimum sound from my setup.
currently all i do is just plug , turn on daw and sing :(

Hi Varun!
Does the static noise stop if you run the macbook on battery? If yes then isolating the ground pins may help.

You really should get a pop filter or make one from an old stocking and clothes hanger. Here are some instructions: hometracked.com/2006/05/28/homemade-pop-filters/

If you can, set up your mic - preferably with pop filter - in a closet with clothes in it. That's an environment with minimal refections and will serve as a suitable vocal booth until you can build one or invest in acoustically treating your room.

Pop filter - yes. Recording in a closet - dead sound.

Stay out of the closet. It's probably the worst place to record. The bigger your room, the better. Closets, boxes, "booths" are a myth that needs to go away once and for all.

You might have to say it all over again, Rami!
