I'd guess that's some kind of device that does more than just being a microphone. Like some kind of little flash-memory recorder or something. Either that or some type of small pzm/boundary or surface mounted mic.

I asked them on that video for you ;)
 
It's a high impedance microphone that came with a reel to reel tape recorder.
There are a vast amount of model names and makes.
Ebay is full of them for sale for cheap

I feel like I have one during tear down of live shows. I quickly pull all of the microphones so my crew can start with the cable wrapping. The vocal microphones get put in my back pockets till they are full then onto the front pockets.

I'll try to get a picture at some point and post it here of send it to your cell phone.
