Don’t just say no to high gear and tape prices on ebay, contact the seller and tell them you’re putting them on your exclude list in advanced search because their prices are outrageous! In addition, from now on we’re going to make a list of all these bad sellers and post them in every analog recording and audiophile forum on the web… starting with this guy.

Three things to remember:
1) There is no cassette tape shortage
2) Always google the user ID of an eBay seller
3) If you don’t do something to protect you profession, hobbies, interests… you’re going to lose them.
How I single-handedly shut down two eBay accounts belonging to the owner of tapeandtape and his lying, thieving sticky-shed nightmare machine:
On every eBay listing down the page a bit and to the right is a link that says, “Report Item.” Many unscrupulous sellers are also violating eBay rules that have nothing to do with the main issue I have with them. tapaeandtape and other bad sellers regularly offer items outside of ebay to avoid eBay fees. That’s against eBay rules. If eBay gets enough reports of this activity they will eventually suspend the user’s account. If even three or four other members from this forum had been reporting his activity his second account would have been suspended six months before it was. It’s not only the frequency of reports that gets ebay to even look at the listings, but probably more importantly the number of eBay members reporting the seller.
Why should you care if sellers are avoiding eBay fees? One simple reason and the only reason you need. eBay changes policies to compensate for the loss. This has mostly been reflected in fee increases over the years. That means higher costs for sellers and buyers. Perhaps the worst thing I’ve seen happen in my decade on eBay is when eBay began charging sellers the same percentage for shipping fees as they do the final value fee. In the “Report Item” link there’s a selection to report excessive shipping, which I’ve probably reported hundreds of times in the last ten years. Sellers were flipping the amounts. That is, selling the item for what shipping would cost and charging a shipping price for what the item should cost. That way their eBay selling fees would be based on the lower final value fee and they pocket a greater profit from the shipping fees.
So because of these bastards, people like me who never overcharged for shipping (Often undercharged) now have a cut taken out of our shipping fees. It got too much and too costly in man-hours for eBay to police so they basically said the hell with it and started charging for shipping too.
In a perfect world I could legally stalk, kill and bury all these F-ing sellers in my back yard… with the other bodies out there.
(Just kidding about that last part. The other bodies aren’t in my backyard; they’re in my basement)
So anyway, yeah… don’t just sit there and take it… do something!
