Latency

I apologize if this has been discussed, but could not find it. What is the best method to get rid of latency in reaper? I am using a Tascam US1800 - Windows 7 - I need to be able to play back one track and stay with it when recording the next. Thanks

The US1800 has a program that comes with the driver that allows you to choose between low, normal and high latency. There are trade offs for each setting, of course. Also, have you set up your computer for audio work? Internet, background programs (virus scanners, etc), and indexing can and most likely will slow your computer down.
