I'm getting a price on one of these today:

Does the Kurt Cobain model come with a detachable neck for easier smash-ability? :D

All Fenders come with detachable necks, don't they? :D

£725 is my best price with a couple of freebies like strings, gig bag etc. Tempted.

If you buy one of these "reliced" guitars and you're holding it jumping up and down pretending to be a rock star then accidentally scratch it do you get pissed off becaused you scratched it?

Technically, wouldn't a used relic guitar be worth more than a new one?

How do you tell a used one from a new one, maybe one is just "reliced" better?

More questions than answers.....

Nice bubba. Congrats dude. :)
Thanks. I feel a bit ill, I've never spent that much on a guitar before, even my USA tele. :laughings:

I've only bought it so I can contribute something new to the "tone" thread.:D I gather it's a bit of a "surf guitar"? What would be a good number to trial a Surf tone with? Can't wait to give it a go.

Pipeline and Wipeout are both super simple songs to get surfy with. Can't wait to hear it.

Well, it's a few days until my new purchase arrives. Do I wish I'd gone for the HH version with twin humbuckers and coil tap blending? Truthfully, I don't know. I'm not naturally a humbucker bloke, but some of the demos of Cobain's tone using the signature model that I've heard on Youtube are outstanding. But I'm not a total fanboy of Kurt so I'm not too bothered. The trouble with making a decision on choosing one thing means that you have rejected all the other possibilities. What I WOULD like is a usable "Stratty" bridge-pup tone so I can really use it with my band, rather than just gloat over it in my house. :D

Time will tell. :)

Single coil > Humbucker

I'm not quite sure what you're saying there, mate? Unless you're thinking the same as me, that 'buckers are great for one reason (awesome GAIN!!) and that single-coils rule for every other application? :D

Yup, pretty much. I prefer singles for just about everything. If someone made a decent sounding noiseless single, I'd be thrilled, but they don't, so humbuckers still have some use. I like HB's for leads, but singles sound better overall to me.

Agreed.

I've got a set of the newer "hot" noiseless in my strat, and they are not dissimilar to the singles that were in my vintage strat.
The bridge pickup is pretty hot, the others exactly as I remember.
I'm still going to have to get another guitar down the road to make up for this one's apparent deficiencies, I doubt that one guitar can do it all.

Gutted. Went to pick up my new Fender Jaguar tonight and was shocked by the shoddy quality. The nut was barely nicked, never mind expertly cut and the neck needs a shim like a beer mat. You could limbo under the strings. They've got one more chance to send me a good 'un, but to tell you the truth I'm not feeling the love anymore. Nearly £750 and there isn't even an embossed neck plate. And it's M.I.M, which I didn't realise at the beginning.

Damn that sucks. Like everyone says, you gotta actually touch, feel, and taste a guitar before you buy it.

I saw that Cobain tribute guitar in some catalog last week - $1000+ is pretty funny especially since, if I remember correctly, he paid like $40 for his... maybe it was a little more, but not much.

Road worn guitars - I can't understand it at all. If you want an old used guitar go buy one - there are a million of them. Besides, anyone with ears will be able to tell you haven't been playing for 20 years or whatever it's supposed to look like... I mean WTF is that all about? I just don't get it.

I don't have a single guitar with a single-coil pickup. I don't really care for the looks or feel of any of the strats I ever picked up - I did kind of like this Jag I tried once but not enough to lay down the four bills for it.

You guys seem to think single coil is pretty awesome - maybe I will give one another look next time I am at the shop.
