just picked up an eBay Lexicon Omega bundled with LE4... got it all up and running on Windows XP Pro OS after some upgrades.

fairly simple question that is not mentioned in the crappy little manual- when you save Cubase LE4 files to XP where do you put them on the PC, and how do you retrieve them?

i'm sure i'll have a few more Q's but the basic rec/mix stuff wasn't too hard to navigate given that i've used analog boards quite a bit.

thanks.

When you open a new Cubase project, you are prompted where to place the files. The best bet is to use a separate hard drive from your OS drive. Create a new folder for each project. Then it makes it easier to keep track of, not to mention much better performance in streaming audio.

jimmy- trying to avoid the hassle and extra expense of second hard drive at present. just looking for a simple place to put files that won't mess with the OS while i learn LE4. i've not handled audio files previously and i'm just self taught on the PC....

It doesn't really matter where you put them. I believe LE4 creates a default folder called Cubase Projects. It is best to create a new folder for each project when you first start. That way you have each named.

After that, you just go to that folder you created, and click on the cpr file to open the project. :)

between your suggestions and the help section in LE4 i think i've got it. will keep the 2nd hard drive idea in mind... thanks.

the Omega (Lexicon) ASIO driver seems to be acting up a bit, as in a "could not be started !" dialog box... not sure what's up with that yet but it did load after a few tries.

Possible conflict with the default audio drivers in Windows. Make the Omega, your default device for all audio in and out, in windows. Control Panel>Sound (Sound Devices maybe. Sorry, XP is like a dinosaur to me now, don't remember the exact steps.)
