Hey guys,

Here's what in my less than stellar mic-locker at the moment:

SM7B
SM58
SM57 (removed the transformer...putting it in a breakout box)
Apex 460 tube condenser
Apex 210 ribbon mic (slightly modded, going to do more to it)
AT 3035
AKG C1000S

I'm thinking that the AT and AKG might be a bit redundant given the others, but am open to suggestions! Anything you'd suggest looking out for or getting rid of?

Thanks!

:D get a pair of SM81's look in the microphones for sale in the free ads.

Nice suggestion! I see you happen to be selling a pair of SM81's too. ;) I'm a bit scared of the shipping cost to Canada though...

Not sure what the AKG would be good for. If I were going to get rid of one of those, that would be the one. Of course, if you insist on dumping one of the Apex, or the AT, feel free to send it on to me.

Also, what you should be on the lookout for depends entirely on what you're planning on recording.

Thanks. That makes perfect sense. I was thinking about some SDCs, as I don't have any at the moment, but I'm in no rush.

That said, last night I set up the 3035 and 460 in mid/side configuration and the recording sounded great! I'm probably going to mod the 460 and hang onto the 3035 for now.

The C1000S is probably the only one I don't use often, but the ability to use it with a battery makes it pretty convenient for use with older gear like my MT8X which doesn't offer phantom power...hmmm....

what mod did you do to the apex please
and did it improve it? if so how?
