I must say, that is a quite good use of a torn speaker cone. It fits well with the performance. +1 to the guy that came up with the idea, and then convinced anyone to let him record it.

It also sounds like an acoustic bass guitar driven hard. They don't take it well and depending on the amp settings can get quite raspy.

A ran into a guy who said he ran two sets of speakers on his guitar amp. Some typical light weight one 'for cleans'.. and sliced his JBL D-something for crunch'.
