Hey guys, I've been out of the interface recording game for a couple years.

I just got a Tascam US-800 and did what I believe is installing the drivers(the only thing I could install was what they call a panel that if I open just comes up as a mixing board)

In Garageband and Reaper, I can't get the interface to show up. In Reaper it does acknowledge the interface but says "not found" before it.

I did a quick google search which netted me nothing and I'm completely lost here...how do I get it to...find...the interface?

Thanks!

Google 'asio4all' - these are the drivers you need to install.

I probably should've mentioned that I was using a Mac. When I did a google search it seems all I could find was Windows related material.

I also am somewhat baffled that I have to download a completely different driver just to use two products I purchased(US-800 and Cubase)...guess thats how it goes though.

Thank you for being the only one to offer advice though!

Asio4All should probably be your last resort...it can get you out of a bind but you're likely better off using the manufacturers drivers.

Drivers are things that frequently need to be updated to reflect changes in operating systems. You can find a selection of the latest version on the Tascam site HERE./ The need for updates is the reason what comes with the hardware is often out of date by the time you get it.

I'd give those a try before moving to Asio4All....but be sure to read the release notes about the installation.

Still no end to this mess in sight...I've looked into the asio thing, couldn't find anything for Mac there. I downloaded the latest drivers from Tascam.

Still saying the unit is 'not found'

may sound stupid (and may actually BE stupid)..but have you left the device plugged in, then restarted your computor?

theres probably a few simple small things like that I haven't done as of yet. Will be working on it later tonight and update.
