Latency HELP

I didn't even record at all. Just when I have the monitor button on in cubase, if i say test, the delayed "test" that comes back is cracling and popping, almost inaudible.

I would suggest purchasing something cheap like a Lexicon Alpha and see if the interface is the problem. You can always take it back. I have no experience with the Yammy, and in fact, have never heard of it. If there is no other way to find out what the problem is via support from the manufacturer, then eliminate it from the equation. Sorry, I don't have any other ideas. Hopefully someone else will.

Ok sounds good. You're the best for helping out a stranger, thank you and all you guys. I'll try out a new interface tomorrow and I'll report back if that wasn't the problem. If I don't report back then it WAS the interface and I'm back in the strangeland recording and very thankful for the help :)

Definitely report back man. We enjoy helping out. When we can't figure it out, we like to know why, and how we can be more helpful in the future. :D

When you installed the new driver did you change your asio inputs to use the Yamaha driver I/O ?

Not manually, I just installed the driver. I checked to see if I have a yamahaa / audiogram icon in my system tray but I don't, how would I access the asio inputs?

In Cubase: Devices>Device Setup>VST Audio System. Select your Yammy driver there.

It's saying "device could not be opened" when i switch to the yam.

Double check everything. Driver installed? Interface turned on and connected before opening Cubase?

In Windows, go to Control Panel>Sound. Is the Yamaha there? Select it as default.

I used the x64 bit version but i think my cubase is x32 so i'm going to try that driver instead, be back in a bit.

I think we're onto something!!! No delay! Now there is a popping and crackling feedback that is constant. I tried to up the buffer but there's only high, med, and low to adjust it to, and it didn't help. I tried a reboot of cubase but didn't help.

K. So did you do all the optimization stuff? Try restarting too, now that you have the driver up and running. Windows, then interface, then Cubase.

I'm seriously excited about getting rid of that delay. Maybe I can save a few bucks and not get the interface. Crackling won't go away, I don't think it's buffer related though, sounds like wires crossed somewhere, just a constant buzz / crackle. I rebooted and I'm playing with as many settings as I can find but as soon as cubase launches it starts the crackles, even without the monitoring button on. The only way it goes away is to turn down the daw knob on the interface but that takes away the fx

Sounds like a communication problem between PC and interface. Try another USB cable and different port. What other devices do you have running via USB?

You never replied to the other suggestion. Make sure to make the Yammy the default driver in Windows. The can be conflicting man.

Ladies and gentlemen we have lift off!! I used a different usb port and it's clear as a bell with the monitoring button on and fx present. Ahhhh breathe. What can I say, I'll pay it forward. You guys are truly great people!

WooooHoooooo!!! Glad you got it figured out man! Now go make music for me to thrash on! LOL! Just kidding man.

Welcome to the forum. :D
