Just add this to the Youtube address, since it will not let me post a link. LOL

What do you think?

Well, there is what seems to be a lack of training regarding your technique. And, IMO, song choice leaves something to be desired, as your range is no where near Britney's. Not sure what it is you are looking for. Criticism? Advice? Opinions?

Typically this forum is for improving vocals. I would recommend working at improving your abilities.

Hmmm... I truly want to know if I have vocal ability. I realize my voice will never be able to hit Brit's higher notes.

So what I am asking, that with practice and better song choice, can I be a good singer?

That is impossible to tell. That would be up to you to decide. If you were to come to my studio, I myself would say no. That does not mean you cannot work at it.

Let me re-phrase. Could I be a "recording" artist which really does not need much of a voice, since I am also a good dancer. Kind of like Britney, so-so voice, good dance skills.

I cant answer that man. Audition for IDOL or AGT. See where you go.

Ooh. That would be scary. Since I was sort of scared to audition for any show, etc, that was I was finding opinions on the net.

Thanks for the help anyway. :)

BTW... if you think my voice is blah, then what did "this is 'next level' " mean?

There is room to move to the 'next level'. You own drive will get you to your potential. I cannot say what that is. It would just be my opinion. It not my place to set your limits. If you want something, you do what is necessary to achieve it. Go get what you want TNL! :D

Thanks. You have been super helpful. Now just to find the correct training/techniques I need. LOL

Internet research can be helpful, but nothing will do more than one on one coaching from a professional vocal coach.

And lastly, sorry to keep bothering you, but what are some specific issues with my voice?

Well, to quote myself; "there is what seems to be a lack of training regarding your technique". That would involve confidence, pitch, control, breathing, projection, listening........

It's pushing it, singing a song with no accompaniment. It exposes everything that can be exposed because it's all that can be focused on.
But though your voice isn't currently good, you're not tone deaf and so I would stick my neck out and say that with practice and determination, you could possibly be useful as a singer. Whether as a lead singer, no one can tell.
Do you have access to a musical instrument ? Like some sort of keyboard or guitar ? Because one place you could start would be to plink a note and sing it till there's no difference in sound between what you play and what you're singing. Then move onto the next one. Then search through this singing forum because there's good threads on breathing excercises and other things that will help. And if you can find singing lessons, then Bob's your uncle !

Come on jimmys69, just tell it like it is, you think he sucks, no need to paraphrase like:

That is impossible to tell. That would be up to you to decide. If you were to come to my studio, I myself would say no. That does not mean you cannot work at it.

You can still be polite and tell him you don't like it. It's not impossible!!
