The Devil Has Blue Eyes
I just purchased a brand new unopened c414 xlii on eBay for under $800. I thought this was a great deal as they sell for $999 each here in Canada. Anyway, long story short...the Fedex driver just delivered them and I was shipped a STEREO SET!!! SWEET!!!

Hmmm,,,that's not cool man.
Although each to his own.

I'm not sure what I'd do in all honesty.

True, my wife said the same thing. We're talking about sending them back. Not sure what I would do with a stereo set anyway. I only record vocals and acoustic. Drums, bass and piano are all digital or midi and I use guitar rig 4 for my electric.

I know what I'd do. I'd start doing a LOT of stereo recording.

Was trying to work out why you said "them back", then it twigged. It's a proper boxed stereo set huh?

Nightmare man.

That's another thing that's affecting my decision. They are a boxed stereo set and if I send them back I'm without a mic for another week or two.

I feel like I have the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other ;)

Feel your pair bro.

Are they factory matched or just a pair?

Maybe you could return one mic and the box etc, and have the seller ship you the right box.

I think if you contacted the seller and said you will ship these back once you recieve the one you ordered he would respect your integrity - meantime do like rat says and get some stereo tracks down.

I did know someone who "got lucky" and recieved a double delivery... he held onto them for almost a year thinking if they don't ask for it back (a laptop) they must have forgotten about it - he was about to sell the unopened freebee on when Royal Mail wrote to him stating they had opened an investigation and why had he not returned the item... he did send it back but had some bluffing to do (he had signed for the packages) could have been awkward if he had sold it :)

They say Computer-Matched Stereo Pair.

Did anything in the auction indicate it had the slightest possibility of being a pair of mics?

One notable difference may be that the seller is in the US and I'm in Canada.

There was nothing in the ad about a stereo pair.

Regardless, I emailed them and offered to send them back only if they send me a single c414 first so I don't lose any recording time. We'll see what they say.

If they do you right, be sure to let us know. It's good to know who the reputable dealers are...

It's like "they" say...

"Behind every good man is a good woman. Behind every no good woman is a no good man."

My wife made me do it...not sure which category she falls under ;)

A good one will love you for all that you have, and a bad one will take you for more.

Yeah dude I'd give em a call and let them know. Maybe they'll throw in something extra like a set of cans!
