Only mic I have right now is an AKG C1000 and that was given to me for 50 bucks from a friend so I couldn't pass it up. I'm just looking to build up my mic collection to be able to record some versatile things and obviously the sm57 is one of the best for that.

Is the es57 any good? It's ridiculously cheap but I've only heard good things so I thought I'd double check with a respectable community. Any advice?

Should I save up for some sm57s or will the gls mics make the cut?

Is it worth what? Worth the asking price relative to other dynamic mics? You betcha. It's a great mic. I know it's said to be an SM57 clone (and it's clearly made to look like one) but it's not exactly the same. The SM57 has a mid range bump, and the ES57 does too--it's just in a different place. In other words, they may each need a bit of EQ to get what you want out of them, but the ES57 delivers.

I've got 3 and I have never regretted buying them.

That's what I tell my wife every time she catches me mocking her behind her back. I don't think she's buying it. :)

Sounds as if you get as many whacks to the back of the head as Dog Breath does!

I think i'm going to pick up a few of these myself. Little harder to come by in canada though so far :(
