Hello,

Even this Strat is very far from what the purist could expect (EMG HH, satin black finish,...), it looks to me very close to the perfect strat...

Is anybody here using this guitar ? Do you have any opinion on it ?

Thanks

I never got why people are so crazy about signature instruments. They're so freakin overpriced, why not just get the regular model. There isn't much of a difference (quality wise) anyway.

I have an Eric Clapton Strat and I've yet to find a stock model with the same neck/pickups/Bost control. Sure it costs more but I've had it 20+ years and if/when I need a new one I'll buy another...

Although I like my Texas special pickups, I would never play a SRV Strat- I think trying to emulate the look and sound of someone famous is a pointless endeavor, and that guitar is UGLY!

defintly a far away, custom version.... he made it work, thats whats cool about it, customized strat the headstock could use some sizzle , like dipped in blood red or something...

i wonder what drove the pups in it? never played those kind of pups before...

the strat body is a no brainer, well balanced and engineered

Can't you do a build though, through the guitar company? Picking the features and woods you want and they'll build it for you. I don't know for sure, but i'd imagine, you could still have the same guitar made for less than the price of a signature model. Because they do have to pay him for using his name.

this, or couldn't you even buy the parts seperately and assemble it(or something very similar?) yourself for less money? I found a site some time ago that sold bodies, necks, electronics, hardware, and everything else you might need to build your own guitar.

you could probably build a guitar for $500ish that would list for a good bit more. plus Jim Root sucks, and I wouldn't trust anything with his name on it to sound good. IMO

I have to go with the opinion of this isn't really a strat. I mean it is in the sense that it was made as one by fender, but this feels like it was designed for a grindcore band. Does anyone know what kind of capacitor it has? This guitar feels more like a cheap ibnanez(not all ibanez's are bad).

it has active p'ups.
So I don't think the cap is gonna be that big a factor.

Thanks all for your comments.
I'm not a Slipknot fan at all, i don't really know Jim Root and don't care about having a signature instrument. The fact is that this particular reference look like something I could have assembled to get a close result (EMGs, black satin finish, 70's headstock,...). I've got the opportunity to have the guitar for 750, which doesn't look as a bad deal to me.

Once again, I understand that this guitar is very particular, and also very far from what you expect from a Fender.

I think I will eventually get it, let me know if you're interested in a quick review...

Edit : Stevieb, sorry there was no link, but I was not able to post one (5 post minimum limit). Thanks for having provided one ;-)

Sorry, poiche, I didn't think to check your post count. I agree, if an instrument does fit your vision of what you want to play, is well built and is reasonably priced, it matter not who's name is on it. My intended point was that you can probably find a guitar that fills the bill for less.

A review would be great. Post it to user reviews at the audiofanzine site, too.

Yeh, they haven't got nearly enough useless, clueless reviews over there. They need more...
