Yeah it is a good tune. The guitar leads bring it to the next level. Not sure about the fade out though. I remember Greg giving me a hard time about a fade on one of my tunes & he was right. It's like a closing chapter, you need to bookend a tune like this with a proper ending. Mix sounds good though and the guitar candy is brilliant

Thanks, I was thinking that too, it could use more of a "live" ending, with written parts.

I use Guitar Rig 4 too. Sometimes mixed with a mic'd amp and a distortion pedal. Guitar Rig is super.

Nice work. Without reading all the comments, I believe your drums are programmed, but you've got em' mixed and programmed so well, they sound acoustic. (if they are acoustic, then you've got a great drummer!).. Overall sound of the mix is great. Nice and clean. The only thing which I think needs work is your singin'. Some of your phrasing is a bit amateurish, but I'm not one to talk. I can't sing worth a bean myself. Great tune, Pete. Thanks for sharing.

Little click in between vocal lines at :27. If it's on the vocal track, I'd edit it out. Another little one at :30. Smaller ones in other spots.

I didn't care for the delay effects on the vocal. Keep it natural. Double tracking the vocal in the chorus would probably work well.

I'd try to reduce some of the lows in the guitar - like a notch somewhere between 150 - and 200hz. See if that helps the bass come through a little more. Might not be an improvement, but it might help clear up the low end just a bit.

Oh man the truth, I asked forum member Bulls Hit to try the vocal on this, dont know if he'll do it. Maybe JoeyM would be kind enough. I also thought I had a pretty good rock tune also, which deserves a good rock vocal. My choir boy voice is just not right for the lead.

Its easy drummer, 24" Kick with plastic beater.

Yup all true, the vocal is heavily comped/edited because It was hard for me to sing. I had the bass more present but it was really getting crowded, I'll give that a try. The delay is just a long setting on the verb that shortens during the chorus, maybe it should all stay one length.

Just curious, what monitors do you use? I'm finding mine(Tannoy 501a) are somewhat lacking in accuracy from 50hz-1K.

I had a listen to what I think was the first mix a few days ago and thought I commented, but I guess not (sorry).

Whatever I'm hearing now must be the most recent mix. I do like this mix a lot better.

Man, I didn't notice the guitar solo so much the first time, but it's a cool, raw sound you have there. The lead bits sound really cool. If you found a way to match the intensity of that sound throughout the rest of the tracks, you'd really have something I could get into more.

I thought the exact point where you chose to cut off the lead at the end (I assume to create a non-fade out ending?) was disappointing. It left me hanging. I'd try a different spot for that edit myself.

I'm kinda struggling with this a bit overall, it has some parts I love, but its hasnt come together all the way. It really needs a good rock singer to match the guitar playin.

It definately needs a better ending. I'm tryin not to make every tune on my (upcoming)CD a fade out. Something will come 2 me.

Hey Pete, I'm kinda late, as usual, but this is pretty cool with a catchy grind to it. I gotta say though, I haven't read all the comments, but if someone doesn't take you to task for the heavy effects on your vocal, then I will. These guys never let me get away with burying my vocal in disguising effects ! You gotta just let it rock man . I say free your voice and free your lead guitar too. Both have been very much altered from their original state. It's a great tune and a good mix.
