Old School Rock

There is a whole lot going on at the same time, and whole lot of it is crowding the mid range freqs. You need to address that, and take some of the harshness out of the track. Other than that, it's a fairly catchy tune. Oh, and take that effect off your lead vocal. It's fine for small passages, but not on the whole thing.

I'll clean up some of that mid-clutter.

I hold the world record for the thinnest/quietest voice. (Everyone in my family has little mousey voices) So I tend to overdue the double tracking.

Sure, no problem. Another trick you can try instead of double tracking is to just duplicate your vocal in your DAW, and eq it a bit to blend in with your original track. Helps to keep from getting that phasey sound.

I'll try that, you mean thicken one track by using two channels instead of blending two separate takes?
 
Song sounds good. I don't hear any obvious mix issues. I think it fits the genre pretty good. Maybe bump the lead solo at the end up a little bit. Maybe also spread the rhythm guitars out a bit. Take up some more stereo real estate with them. But not really necessary on either point.

I like the vox the way they are...

I've taken alot of static out the guitars and I'll pan em out some more. The vox are a bit phasey, so I alternated the double tracking and single voice more.
 
Some of the words don't rise above the backing, sometimes making it difficult to understand what is being sung. I'd recommend nudging up the singing volume just a touch.

That would be one way to do it, but since I seem to be the only one with an issue about it, perhaps it's just me...

Or just give it a touch with a compressor. Nudging up the volume alone will make the rest of the track too loud. Using a compressor sparingly will even out the track and bring up the low spots without making the high ones too loud. But be careful with it, overdoing it will ruin it. You can hear when compression is overdone on a track. Just listen to anything put out by the record companies for the last 10 + years.

The vox are much clearer already on the remix, the cluttered mids were masking the vox fiercely. Lowering the doubled voice also helps because the phasey-ness blurrs the pronunciation.

As of now there is zero compression on the vox. A tiny bit may fatten up the sound too.
 
I guess it's okay, but man, everything sounds way overdone for my ears. It sounds like an 80's Steve Miller song. Everything seems thick with effects. From a mix standpoint, it seems pretty good. I mean, everything is there and nothing seems out of place. I'm just not liking any of the wetness and sizzle. That's just me though. I'd rather hear it more basic but more rockin'.

Thanks, I totally agree, I've taken alot out. I always tend to trying to do to much to my first mixes. Along with paring down the effects, I toned down all the mids and highs in the mix and master.

I like it a lot. Fun tune. Love the guitar solos and bits. I think the mix is good. I hear everything fine and there's good separation. Nice to hear some straight-ahead rock. :cool:

Tight as a young girls thigh. Really nice harmonies on the chorus.

I think the thing I like the best is the straight ahead almost, preordained focus. Like it was all there at once.

Yeah, much better. The only thing I will say now, is let it rest. You can tweak it for 5 years and always find something else wrong with it. I am going to leave you a message on your site. Nice tune.
