LOL. This thread was sure good for a laugh.

@Jimmys69. It not only amazes me that most drummers can't tune a kit, but most drummers can't keep time worth a crap either. I see nothing wrong with using a sample. Like you said, you can take the WORST kick drum track and make it PERFECT in about 2 seconds. Why wouldn't you? I don't like to sample any other drums if at all possible, but the Kick just seems to work so well.

As far as the Gerg debate, I gotta say the other dude is trying way too hard. I've done two mics - seen it done many more. It can help, but a well tuned drum sounds great with one mic. One guy I record regularly has the best kick drum sound, and you really can't miss with the mic placement unless you put it across the room. It just sounds HUGE. Slap a little 1176 and a pinch of EQ and your golden. If you have to augment with a sample, then the drum itself is not right. Just my two cents.

Better still why even have a drummer at all, just program the drums. Watch, it's at the 6 min mark, but the whole episode is great.

Sorry to jack, but how do you get a link to attach to a word? Like 'Watch' above. I have always wondered. Thx.

When you reply, there is a symbol in the menu above that has a globe (the earth) highlight the word you want to be the link, click on the globe and it opens a window that you paste the link into. The word then becomes the link.

Ah, thank you! Btw, just don't tell a crappy drummer your replacing him. He will just think he is that awesome! lol And your nuts wont hurt!
