Oh, MAN (anytime I start post with "Oh, MAN," brace yourself...) The song does, indeed, start out sounding like a happy song, but the recording quality is NOT "happy." Not even consistant. Bad to the point of major distraction- I was so distracted by the sound quality, I could not listen to the lyrics the first time I listened to the song, and I can't bring myself to suffer through the sound quality again. Bass is muddy, gets slightly better or worse several times with to no apparent purpose. Highs are strident and irritating. IMO, the instruments are way too mechanical and digitalized.

It sounds like it was recorded on a portable cassette deck, onto a tape that was worn out. Lo-fi has it's place, but "lo-fi" and "horrible" are not the same. Please, PLEASE, record it again. And know that my pointed criticism is always meant to be constructive.

mix is a bit distorted Merv...dunno if that was your intention but id bring the kick down and see what else, if anything, is causing it also the filtered automations need a bit more work...theyre prolly a bit long and should come in and out more

A different sort of distortion would be nice, this does get sonically irritating. Perhaps a better mix of clean and distorted elements would help it be less hard on the ears. Guitar cab emulation programs typically do a great distortion, I'd definitely go that route.
