I'm currently using a Tascam US-122MKii with Cubase Le 5 and for some bizarre reason the sound only comes out of the headphone/speaker on the left side. Now it's not only the left channel its both the left and right channel obnoxiously sitting together in my left speaker  , and any jiggery/pokery with the VST settings connections/device setup does not seem to alleviate me from this problem. I have made sure i've stereo flipped the sound so it is merged on both sides as there are two lines of sound on each track. but both left and right still persist on being together. i just can't keep them off each other. Much help would be OVERLY APPRECIATED as i have trawled through many other peoples question forums online, very similar to mine, just to see them resolve their problem whilst i'm still very much in the dark.

I recorded in stereo on one side but the merged it to the other and then i created a mono file below and dragged the sound into it but nothing happened

Record in mono. You can pan the tracks to where you want later. See if that helps.

tried it but still now the mono only comes out of the left headphone side and its not the headphones they work fine

So the inputs are now set to mono. Are the outputs set to stereo? Btw what interface are you using?

yes the outputs in vst connections are set to stereo and i'm using a mac book with leopard on it and the the tascam is connected via usb and i'm recording with two line in cables one for a microphone (not xlr on one end) and one for 1/4 jack for guitar/bass

Oh right i completely disregarded the part where you said the tascam in OP haha. Anyway i see the interface records in stereo. It has a mono switch on the interface. Is that switched to on? Even if its not on, your recording on one line in L and one line in R. Your saying both tracks come out the left side? And one more question. Is your mic cable XLR to TRS (2 rings) or XLR to 1/4 (1 ring)?

Right ok haha
-it has a mono switch it is on and was on when i recorded
-both tracks come out of the left when i play it back
but it seems that the channels are on the left and right in cubase as both of the little bars go up in the corner and both sides of the sound line are filled with jagged images
- and xlr to 1/4

haha well this is becoming confusing now. I only see one place for line outs. And it has L and R RCA connections. How are you able to hook up your headphones? Are you using a splitter cable to hook to both L and R? That may be a problem. Is there a headphone jack? I'm not familiar with this interface.

right the phones line out inbetween line in l and line/ guitar in r is where ive conneced my head phones through a 1/8 to 1/4 inch converter my mic is connected to the line in l and the guitar line in r and that all goes into and out of the computer via usb

Okay. Try to find speakers and plug them into the L and R jack and see if that works. If not, then bounce the track and listen through your heaphones or speaker plugged straight into the computer. If the signals are showing that it's coming out the right side as well, it should be come out the right side. It may just be a problem with your converter.

l line in for microphone r line in for guitar middle of those is phones where i use a 1/4 to 1/8 converter to use normal senhieser headphones for my ipod

?? I know we've established that haha. I'm saying export the audio mixdown. File > Export > Audio mixdown. Then listen to the mix through your headphones plugged straight in to the computer. (Or just regular speakers hooked up to the computer) If you can hear through both L and R of headphones/speakers, then it's a problem with the converter.

its fine when i export it and play it on itunes sound on both sides which is good!
but still not on cubase but ive heard both headphones being used when i was recording through this converter and the tascam ?? so it should work ??

If export from Cubase is working fine then seems it must be an issue with the Tascam or it's connection. Can you try another USB cable?

Well that's good!
recording through this converter and the tascam

for future reference. The tascam IS the converter.

Since i have Cubase, i tried to "create" your problem haha although i have a different converter. The only thing i did that i was able to "recreate" the problem is i went to vst connections. And disabled the right connection.

In your vst connections, are BOTH left and right connections enabled? For instance mine looks like this.

Stereo Out
Left Analog 1-2 - 1
Right Analog 1-2 - 2

Does your Right one say Not Connected?

i've swapped usb ports same problem continues
but i have heard audio from the right speaker as well just only in recording never in playing back the file

Cubase would not export both channels if one were not connected.
