Oh dear, someone feels past over...
I looked into changing the title, to patch up your ragged self esteem. It was not possible.
But indulge us, Guitaristic, in the vast brilliance of your boundless knowledge.
You were asking for it![]()

OK $75. an hour an not a penny less!
Speaking of consulting I was just approached this week by a festival to consult and recruit a full days entertainment lineup so off the top of my head (to feel out the waters) I quoted them a $750. retainer fee, down payment with $1000. due the day of the festival for me to be on site. for a total of $1750.
They said yes! ~ right off the bat, no haggling. Wish they were all this easy.
Nice! Think of how many mics you can buy from that money? How many RE20's is that?![]()
4.5?
Man I have mic envy.
I put a little work into this mic yesterday and was a little surprised about the apparent difficulty of fixing this Baby Rattle Syndrome. So much so, that I even doubt if we're talking about the same thing.
The trouble with mine was that all the foam was "gone". The unit inside, with the capsule and the rest attached, was rolling around in the housing...
This can be easily helped by taking off the top (tricky screw I grant you, but not that bad) and wedging a new strip of foam between the capsule and the housing.
When I have some more time I'll see if can get any further in, to clean out all the foam bits, but if that proves tricky I'll stick with plan A, and it should be fine.
yeh, there's two kinds of rattle sydrome.
Henry's where something is loose inside the capsule sealed assembly, which means new capsule,
and the kind where the foam is gone and the whole capsule rattles around inside the body;
In the later, just jam a bit of foam in there to stop it movingSounds like you're one of the lucky ones.
Plan A ?
I sent off my RE-20 to EV for repair and they reconditioned the mic, replaced the foam and capsule, and charged me like $50.
How long ago was that Super?
And do you have the contact info or procedure that you followed?
It was about three or four years back, now.
I just googled EV and called. A guy answered and told me where to send the mic. Apparently they only have one guy who repairs the mics, and the problems I described to him are typical.

Thanks Super I'll give it a try. Someone had told me that the repair can cost upwards of $200. - $300. so I never called.
