PC VS Mac

And the new version of Adobe Audition is cross platform onto Apples now.

And both are using Intel processors.

They're just tools. Apple is superficially more stable...but at the expense of flexibility. Every man and his dog make bits of hardware and software to work with Windoze but this is a blessing and a curse.

I'm in the position where I use Windows PCs at home but the theatre where I freelance uses Apple gear for playback. Both systems have advantages and both have foibles.

Neither is "better". Both have their place. Frankly, my suggestion is to choose the best software for your purposes first, then choose the best hardware and operating system to run it. Whether you're on Windows or Apple, keep your DAW machine as clean as you possibly can and you'll be fine.

You should just have one of each. Put them in a room and let them battle it out. Winner takes all! :p

i disagree. computers are the work horse these days. the whole mac vs pc thing is bull because if you have a decent spec pc or mac it will do the job. they are on level playing fields these days. it really is down to what DAW you work with best. they all do the same thing just in a different ways so find whatever DAW you like the most then find out what operating system it runs on the best, then work back from there.

I own about 25 workstations, I use all platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux). I have worked with computers for well over 15 years, I am a software architect and systems analysis and I have written probably close to a million lines of code. My first computer was an Atari 400 in 1982.

All computers suck. They may be workhorses but that does not mean they are stable, reliable, consistent, dependable, easy to fix and well designed.
They could be, but they are not. Don't get me wrong, I use them everyday - I couldn't do any of the work I do without them (recording or developing).
But nothing causes more problems. Sure I could build a custom system that would solve some of those problems, and I have.
But they still suck because when they screw up, they screw up big time, and they can cost you a lot of time and money, and quite possible lose information
and data that are impossible to retrieve. This is not a Windows versus Mac issue - it is simple the nature of computers.
 
...god is one of THESE.

(Personally, I think both PC and Mac are for wimps. A proper home studio needs one of the above!)
