Anyone here attended one of the free recording seminars offered by Guitar Center? They're Mac & Garage Band-based and though I'm a PC user and mostly record to a standalone DAW, I've signed up for one of their hour-long sessions figuring it wouldn't hurt to pick up a few pointers in person I might not otherwise learn on recording basics. Anyone here been to one of these classes?

I have I actually work for Guitar Center definitely worth your time to check out at this time the training is more than how to record a track basics. You can also take most things you learn and apply them to other DAWS. You may not learn anything if you know what your doing or you might learn something for free good deal.

I tried to go a couple times but being that the workshop starts at 10AM on Saturday morning I never made it...

Well, I went to the first workshop this morning and I have to say that for a free workshop, it was pretty interesting and I've already registered for next weekend's class. Garage Band is a pretty neat program!

A friend of mine went today, too, his name is Norman, perhaps you talked with him, Ricklh, if you are in Atlanta.

Went to one in the Warwick, RI store a few weeks ago. Being a noob, it was a great way to get info on building a foundation to get started. As soon as the class ended, I bought an M-Audio KeyRig 49 on the way out and, in the ensuing weeks, picked up a used set of M-Audio AV-40 monitors and an M-Audio Fast Track II from Craigslist.

I'm in Raleigh. Did your friend say how he liked the class?

Yes, he did. Said it was informative and helpful. He might end up recording on some other program besides Garage band, though.

Attended my second one this past Saturday........Looping and virtual instruments. Came away with more knowledge that I went in with so I'd have to say, for the price, definitely worth it.

I really like how there's no high pressure sales pitch to buy Mac stuff. I have to admit though that after both classes, I spent money before leaving the store. I'll bet I'm not the only one either. So, from that perspective, it's probably still a worthwhile venture for GC.
