Okay - recap:
HR Winner Contest #1 was tie - Supercreep and Heatmiser
HR Winner Contest #2 was Rayc

Here's the rules for Contest #3 and I'll keep it simple....

We get 12 options in a Poll so the first 12 posts in this thread with links go on the Poll in a new thread which I will create .

Then I give it a few days for everyone to vote in the Poll. A week was plenty long enough I think. If we only get 5 votes so be it. If we have a 12 way tie then everyone's a winner. Post the victory in your sig if you like. I got no prizes - this is all for recognition/prestige unless someone feels like chucking in something for the winner - they can arrange shipping and handling. So vote early and vote often.

The poll will close after a week then the winner is declared PDQ.

The track is Serendipity. It's an instrumental featuring Miranda Wageman on violins and me doing everything else. The track was jointly composed.



It was recorded a couple of months ago using a Firepod into Reaper.

The violin was recorded using an AT853u. Everything else is VSTi, except the bass (Warwick) which went straight into the Firepod, and the piano, which is a Technics SX-PX554.

The tracks are:

The reverb is my faithful old Timeworks DX plugin. I also occasionally used an FX plugin from Guitar Rig.

For those interested in the video, it was videoed using a Panasonic handycam thing at a church converted to a studio, and edited in Vegas.
 
Kinks style song I did a couple weeks ago! The bridge is bit of a stretch, and it hasn't really been mixed yet. Oh well it was still a blast!!!

One morning, many years ago, I closed up my bass case which had been lying open on the floor, and took it to band practice. I got there, strapped it on, and when I went to plug the cable into the bass, liquid ran out all over it and my hand.

I posted a query about this in a bass newsgroup, and it turns out this is not an uncommon problem. They had lots of suggestions.

I wrote this song about my experience.

This one is from my past life - an instrumental - so no lyrics but the backstory behind the name was that way back when I wrote it, my boss asked me to play (for some strange reason to do with team bonding) at some team day out.... so I said sure, and grabbed guitar and prepared to dazzle my less-talented colleagues with my brilliance! :laughings:

Now I don't normally suffer stagefright, but for some reason, playing in front of people I work with, I got hit big time, and as you can appreciate, playing fingerstyle acoustic when you're nervous ain't easy, so I'm not sure I gave a great rendition, but I did get a name for the piece out of the experience. Back then it was just the base tune, which I've added a few things to in this version... :eek:

So - tracking information... hmmm... there's a Maton Messiah acoustic doubled on the basic backing, with I think a Maton CW80 playing "lead" probably doubled with an electric way down low... that electric would be a Blade R1 played through trusty Laney 30W tube amp. Keys would be the organ patch on a Yamaha P80. Amp would have been miked with an SM 57 and guitar probably with dual MXL 603s from memory... all recorded on AW4416 workstation. Enjoy!

I'll have a listen to my fellow entrants a little later on, but I'm sure there's some great stuff there. I'll also post a 320 KB link in a few hours so the downloaders have a decnet version... the 128 is a bit warbly...

Very funny doc... I've been there too! Something about furry guitar cases they just love.... that smell I can't get rid of in one of my cases is all I have to remember ol' Victoria by now.. and it must have been 15+ years ago. It's the love that never dies! :laughings:

Some good stuff here, as usual... gecko man... luscious! Nice house too... yours? Very trippy beez... and you win for best title! Liking them all so far... hard to decide, but a few more to go yet as well... bring 'em on! :D
 
This new contest is too quickly up for me. I can only manage a song or two a year. I look forward to some great listening experiences though!
