Color Me, crappy, perhaps?

I pretty much liked everything I heard Jason! I love the random lyrics too; great statement, I think, I'm not sure now . I'm not a big fan of the piano, maybe a cheesy synth would work better. The guitar was just a hair on the 'fake' side, but it works for the silliness of the tune. The vocals are sounding better too. Nice work. :D:D:cool:

So having listened to this a few more times, I'd like to hear some harmonies when you repeat the last line of the chorus (2:58 on). I think it would help if you layered on another voice with each iteration.

Not too bad. I think the drums are a little too buried and the vocals are too processed and unintelligible. Bring the kick and snare up while leaving the rest of the kit alone. I wanna understand the words without having to read along, and I couldn't. Too much chorus/double tracking/reverb or whatever you got going on with the vocal tracks. The instrumentation is good. You could maybe trade a little bass volume for kick.

I was banned because the mods, who used to be our peers, had to make a new example out of someone. But I'm back now....for now.

I've got to re-visit the vocals, for sure. the effect has grown on me, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna mess with that, but they definitely need to be more intelligible. I *might* bring up the drums just a hair, too. Thanks for the comment, Greg. Glad you're back.

Welcome back Greg. Mods, every forum needs a Greg!

Anyway, to the song... I like it. Really good melody, great mood and I like the nonsense lyrics. It brought to mind that birdcage song by They Might be Giants. The piano riffs are great.
There's not a lot wrong with this in my view but the toms sound too fake to me and I'd bring down the cymbols. The vocals could come up a tad.

There's a bit of Stephen Merritt there too which is no bad thing.

Very interesting... I'm gonna take your fake toms comment as a compliment, because they're as real as real gets. If they're good enough to sound fake, I think I've come to a new level. :) Thanks also for the TMBG reference. Didn't intend to sound like them, but I'll gladly take it!

I just gave it another listen - i still like it a lot :)

I didn't notice the "egg shakers line" but dude you got to put a shaker in there, kick it in right at that line!

And I agree with the vocal thing - it's possible the vocals just need a little high-mid boost so you can hear them clearer like Greg said.

It's got a nice kind of innocence to it - without being goofy though.

I'm sure you know just what I mean ;)

Thanks, dude! I'll definitely consider adding egg shakers. I've got 4 of em'. hehe.. Gotta tweak the vocal levels, too.

Cute song, Jason, reminds me of Weezer.
Your voice sounds pretty good here, it could be a little louder. Otherwise, I thought the mix sounded pretty good. Very good arrangement and performance.

Thanks, Joey. Still workin' like crazy on the guitar / bass. This song was probably the funnest, and definitely the quickest I've ever worked on. (Still planning on working on the tune you sent me. Hopefully next week.)

Truth be told, I'm not crazy about the distorted guitar sound on this one, either. When I overlaid the clean Les Paul sound, it seemed to fit much better. Thanks for the comments, Brad.

Harmonies are never a bad thing. I think I hear exactly what you're talking about. Hopefully I'll get around to implementing something like that. When I get a song to a releasable state, it's hard to go back to it, instead of working on new material. This one might be worth it, though.

Thanks for the comments!
