Vox Time Machine tap tempo fix? - N00b question

Hello,
I'm a guitarist using a Vox Time Machine delay pedal...I'm having issues with the tap tempo setting; sometimes when I tap in a new tempo it will only hold the new tempo for a few seconds and then revert back to what I think is a factory preset slow delay tempo. I'm a complete novice when it comes to pedal electronics, but since I'm broke, I'm feeling a bit motivated to rip open the pedal and see if I can figure anything out to resolve this issue. Does anyone have any wisdom, admonishments or chastisements to help me? Thanks!!

Don't waste your time...there is nothing you can fix yourself in there AFA that. Just take it back and get a new one.

I have the same pedal and have not noticed that issue.

ditto ....... it's gonna be a big ol' chip in there that you will look at and go Huh.

It's conceivable that the tap tempo button could be bad or have a bad connection however.
But it's more likely just the unit and something in it's programming is glitchy.
