Hi All,
I am trying to record from Roland drums via a midi sport 2x2 using Mixcraft 5 onto my PC (windows 7 in 64 bit mode). This works with no problem if I use my wife's laptop (windows 7 in 32 bit) so I know data is present. Divice Manager on my PC can see the Midisport and it says it is working correctly. Mixcraft too can see the Midisport. Midiox sees no data and no data is recorded by Mixcraft. (Audio recording is fine.)

Thing is, this used to work. I did a track for my son when he had this computer. Any ideas gratefully received.

My son is fond of downloading anything and everything and I suspect that something has been reset. Would reloading Windows be an option?

Thanks

Does MIDI-OX show the MIDIsport ports?

If not, select Options > MIDI Devices in MIDI-OX and select the MIDIsport ports.

The only other thing I can think of is you have the cables reversed, MIDI IN and MIDI OUT swapped from the Roland to the MIDIsport.

Hi c7sus thanks for your reply. Tried that and Midiox can see the midisport but when selected it says there is and external failure.

Did a bit of recording on my wife's laptop this am and the midi drum kits in Mixcraft vare not that good - well bad actually. I'm giving up now, I'm going to stick with audio. Thanks again.

Reload the driver for the MIDIsport. Check online for the latest version for Windows 7. The MIDIsport should be rock solid. I've got the 8x8 version and they released a new driver last fall for XP that is working much better than the previous driver.

"buy" EZDrummer, that'll give you some nicer sounding kits and more control.

That doesn't solve the problem of not being able to input MIDI, or being able to play the EZDrummer samples with Roland electronic drums.
