I'm almost too embarrassed to ask this...

... but could you suffocate inside a non-ventilated vocal booth?!?

Thanks!

I think you'd have enough wits about you to open the door before you pass out. At least I hope you would.

Unless, of course, you're inebriated. Then all bets are off.

If you did it would sure be one for the books. You would be a feature on the breaking news, then your demise would just fade into late night talk show jokes followed by being a blurb on Wikipedia.

I'd prefer the oxygen! I'm still wondering if it's actually possible though. I wrote to one of the manufacturers, but I havent heard back...

Maybe they were checking it out for ya ..... and they are now in a little curled up ball in the corner of their vocal booth all blue and purple!

It would have to be hermetically sealed, and you'd have to stay in there for quite a while. You'd find it difficult to sing and have to take a break long before you'd suffocate.

Just received this from Whisper Room:

WhisperRooms are essentially air-tight if you do not get the ventilation system. We have been selling our current version of non-ventilation rooms for over 11 years without a problem. We have not had a single report of suffocation or similar symptoms.

Knock on wood!

What about the experiments performed on animals in their labs? :D

.... unable to reply to your email. Hmmm, I wonder if they got their insurance lawyer involved? Maybe he's in the booth and now they don't know how to write an appropriate disclaimer. Caution: Use of this Product could KILL YOU!!!

And therein lies the dilemma! :)
Oh come now, musicians never imbide to the point of inebriation. They are a pure breed of social drinkers. Responsible and thoughtful. :laughings:

If you're referring to a manufactured vocal booth, I doubt the company would construct it so people would not have enough oxygen to breathe. If you're talking about a DIY vocal botth, chances are it's not as airtight as you might think. But if you are building your own, then you really need to plan for ventialtion.

And like Jeff_D said, why even have a vocal booth.

Bet a good fart would take about an hour to dissipate. That tells you right there if you can survive or not for long periods in there.

Just wouldn't use one for deep space exploration or as a underwater laboratory.
