I was doing some guitar tracking and noticed my fender strat produced some short static "click" sound during playing. They were very random, but definitely got on the recording. It was not the 60-cycle hum. Is it a common issue?

My setup:
Fender strat into Input 1 of a Firepod. no amp.

Thanks guys.

Maybe you were recording the signal too hot resulting in seemingly random clipping.

That would be what I'm guessing too.

OP -Did the clip indicator light blink when you tracked it?

If it's not that another good guess would be a bad cord.

No the level was not hot at all. It seemed like the guitar clicks when the pick strikes the string. It doesn't do it when I play through an amp. Something to do with the setting on the FP maybe? I'm trying to digitally edit it out but it's very not fun.

Well...It turned out that the noise was caused by the thick pick. Not sure how thick though. When I switched to the thinner picks there was no audible static sound. And I played thru the amp again to test, the thick picks definitely made the strings click. Anyone had similar experience?
