Its lyk i havent even put up my debut album out yet (just a couple of songs out thats all) and loadsa people (not only friends) are telling me that i should put up my music on itunes etc already.
Now i dunno whether this is a risky strategy to start sellin my music immediately when people can download it for free anyways...
Part of me is saying that i should sell the album as i did spend a lot of time, money and effort making it in the first place....while part of me is sayin that i should give it away for free download to the masses..

Now i cant tell the future but i dunno what i should do to best distribute my album and would like your advice please.

thanks

What are your goals as a musician?

Is it to have a fun hobby while working a day job? If so, you might as well just keep giving the songs away until you feel ready to put together a full album.

I don't think there's much risk in selling your music. If people are going to download it, they'll download it anyway. The only risk I can think of is that if you do a shoddy job of recording your stuff, people who buy it might feel gypped and stop supporting you.

I just put two and two together.

The right time to sell your music is when you have a product that is worth buying, and also when you don't need to sell your music to keep a roof over your head. Unless you've got something else funding your projects, leave music as a hobby.
