Haven't heard from the FedEx driver yet, but it appears that a brand new hemp cone 12 inch Weber Blue Dog has been stolen off my front porch. I got here at 130pm, 90 minutes after they say they left it, and it is g-o-n-e!

But I cant file a police report until the driver confirms where he left it. Neighbor doesn't have it...... the sticky note on the front door was blank, but the web site tracking says "left on front porch." It's almost as if somebody was tailing the FedEx truck waiting for a chance to steal something.....

It's that time of year.Christmas is coming and all the thieves are on the lookout for a free score.Where i live someone went through all the mailboxes in my trailer park looking for cards with money and gift cards two years ago. They got my copy of Batman-the black knight from netflix.Luckily i didn't have to pay for it but i'm sure some of my neighbors lost some stuff. Some folks will leave gifts out for they're garbage collectors and such and the thieves watch for that sort of thing.

I prefer having to sign for my items even though it's a pita.I'd rather make the trip to the post office or the ups place but sellers don't always give us that option.

Hey SC that really sucks, sorry to hear that. Hell you must have every speaker ever made by now. Hope you/they find it.

SC probably got it but can't find it in the mountain of speakers he has in his basement.:laughings:

man that sucks!! this time of year will probably be the worse than it has ever been. sucks when you have to look over your shoulder when out shopping because you never know who's watching you.

Ahhhh...the only time Fedex leaves sticky notes on your door is when they are NOT able to deliver becuase they need a signature. Otherwise...they just leave the box and that's it.

Maybe you need to check with Weber if they required a signature for the shipment....

Does the Tracking indicate that a signature was required?

Not sure what you are saying here, Bob...?

He mentioned that they left a blank sticky note on his door...and I'm saying the only time FedEx leaves sticky notes on your door is when they don't leave the package.

AFA the "left on porch"...???

I just think he should check if a sig was required by Weber...which may have been, and the "left on porch" was actualy refering to the sticky note.

But it's been like 18 hours and Soundchaser has not posted back...so who knows....

Fedex may have left it on a neighbor's porch. Check with them yet?

well the ..............'s were just because of the 10 character minimum ...... I wasn't saying or implying anything at all. I hate that rule ...... why do you have to have 10 characters and if I post a couple of quotes why shouldn't that be enough? PIA. So I put up a bunch of periods to cover the requirement.

As for his quote, I put it up there because it specifically says "web site tracking says" ...... NOT the sticky note which he said "was Blank".

Yeah...I don't know what purpose the 10-character rule serves...everyone just types some jibberish to fullfil it when all they want to do is a quote or a single word response. It's a dumb rule.

I get what you (and the OP) are saying. I'm only pointing out that in all my dealings with FedEx...the only time you ever find a sticky note on the door from FedEx...is when they DON'T leave the package. I've never known them to leave the package AND also a sticky note about it.

AFA what the web info says...very often that is vague info. I've spoken to FedEx reps about tracking info...and sometimes even THEY weren't sure what it meant or where the fuck my package was!!! :D

But where the heck is Soundchaser the last 24 hours...is he still combing the neighborhood porches looking for his missing Weber Blue Dog??? :D

Apparently the seller (Weber) will deal with FedEx, once they have a verification from FedEx that the speaker is, in fact, declared stolen then they collect from FedEx (Weber insured it and shipped it, the shipper has to file the claim) and they build me another one. Weber says after this happens once to any customer, every speaker they buy after that is automatically sent "signature required." Fine with me. I did file a police report, for what it's worth, even though they cant really do anything. I notified the used music gear place to watch for it, and I suppose I should check ebay a few times. The thieves probably didn't know what they were getting, and they wont have much use for it, not like it's a great hi-fi-speaker or anything. I would guess they will either try to sell it or they will dump it on a dirt road some where. Only thing I dont like is it has the receipt in it with my name and contact info.

The police said this is not the first report of the same thing this week, and the FedEx driver said this is the second package this week on his route alone that has been stolen off a porch. I think the thieves had to be watching. The chances of them just driving up and down the streets randomly and getting to my box within that 90 minute window (I got there 90 minutes after it was delivered and it was already gone) are pretty slim. Frankly, in retrospect, I'm kinda surprised this hasn't happened months ago. I've had maybe 100-150 things delivered to my front porch in the last 2-3 years, this is the first theft. Probably lucky it was only about $150 dollars worth of box!

This year is the first times that both FedEx and UPS have been leaving sticky notes on the door with the package on the porch. Last year it was the way miroslav is saying, sticky note only if the package was not left. This year they have left a sticky note with every delivery. The driver has already confirmed that he left it on the porch AND stuck a note on the door. The last few boxes from UPS have had sticky notes on the door too.

I'm flattererd that 24 hours is too long for you guys to miss me! :drunk:

Ahhhh...I think that train already left the station.... :D

I'm looking for a new speaker for one of my cabs...if I find it for sale on eBay...I'll let you know how it sounds. :laughings:

;)

I've gotten to the point of always sending stuff WITH signature when I sell on eBay...and when I buy, I have them ship it to my work address, for the EXACT reasons of what happened to you...and because during the winter, I don't like electronics or music instruments/items laying out in the sub-freezing cold all day long waiting for me to pick them up….unless it’s something like guitar picks or similar.. :)
