Is this an okay package to start out with?

You'll get varying opinions on whether the individual components are the best for the buck or not - some other things you might want to consider are:

Different software, a pop filter, a different mic for recording acoustic guitar, marriage counselling for the arguments over creative control... :D

Whatever you get, make sure you have all the right leads to connect it all up so you can play with it once you've unwrapped it .... remember when you were a kid and you got this great toy for Xmas and no-one thought to include batteries.... bummer...

You can get batteries for toys from the 7-11 but no-one's going to be able to sell you a mic cable on Xmas day! ;)

Have realistic expectations on what you'll achieve. Equipment is one thing, knowing how to use it properly is a whole different ball game.

Welcome to the forum... and the rest of your life.. :laughings:

Thanks for the reply Armistice. We're not expecting anything great out of it. I mainly don't want to just buy something and then later on realize I've either a) bought things I don't need, or b) bought things I need, but they're just bad versions of it or not fit to our situation.

We both have psychology degrees, so I guess we can try to out-psych the other when it comes to creative control. :D

Considering you can spend hundreds of thousands setting up a proper studio, you have to be realistic about what you're going to get for $679.99 - there are better options for all the things in that bundle, but what will constrain you most is not equipment, but knowledge, at the start anyway.

If you continue on with recording after working out some of the basics because it's something you want to progress, you can always buy bigger and better stuff and there's lots of people here who'll help you with advice! :D

Quiet here today... must be the Americans are all away eating turkey... so bump your thread up if no-one else but me gets to it... normally there's plenty of help around.

Cheers :drunk:
