I see deaf people
I have an early 70's Anturia 12 string I tried to sell in a well known guitar shop in London rather than take on a transatlantic flight...so the guy says to me "sorry not sure if we can take another chinese 12 string"...lol

they were made in the Ibanez factory in Japan for J T Coppock in Leeds UK...it wasnt the fact that he was going to price it down but that he didnt want a chinese guitar at all

it wasnt like the guitar department in a music superstore..but a dedicated guitar shop

Im glad I kept it..shes a lovely guitar but you have to worry about some of these people...I barely play guitars but knew the history of it

Does shit like this happen only in the UK?

Happens a bit here, or at least it used to before I get some educating from Homerec and Muttley! I find it more of an issue when buying though, as I'll usually let one of the staff make whatever sales pitch they've been working on. If they bandy about generic terms or get something wrong (like the wiring spec on a Jaguar for instance), I get a little non-plussed. A lack of attention to detail is annoying too...if I ask whether an amp has an fx loop, I think the guy who makes a living selling amps should know the answer without having to flip the thing over! Same with string gauges - it's probably set up with 9's but this is something they should know right off the top of their head, you know?

Do you mean Antoria? Some of the early ones are really nice instruments for what they cost. They don't fetch a bunch now but many are well worth seeking out. The 80's ones were made in Korea..

I went to 2 "guitar shops" trying to find a replacement nut for the cheap bass someone had given me. They both said to bring it to a luthier (duh, what do you DO here?!)

you can understand if its some spotty oik working after school...but the guy I spoke too certainly wasnt

I didnt even correct him...whats the point, I just walked back out...

I bet he was gutted..:o

I bet he was gutted..:o

no I doubt he was...he probably thought he'd just passed up a Chinese guitar rather than a half decent budget Japanese guitar...why would he be gutted?

whats with the continual attitude?

Just grow up man...you're 50

Yeh you're right again. That piece of Anturia (sp) guitar was going to pay for his next holiday. Some were nice none hugely valuable. Look at it this way. He did you a favour because when they become valuable you still have yours.

The attitude? Well I guess you got a handle on that already.:D

its "you've" and "you'll"....and no it wouldnt pay for a holiday, unless it was to someplace like Jedburgh...

Id estimate it would only be worth around 200 pounds....thats not the point I was making

But you obviously want to turn this into a fight as well, we no muttley, Im not biting. Take your bad attitude and condescending posts to the cave...this forum could do with less of the better than thou attitude

Im all about the guitars

Ok mate keep posting all that helpful advice and I'll give you £50 for the Antoria.:laughings:

Maybe you could get your bff chater-la to do a poll on whether your attitude and posts in this board today have been worth while and helpful. You might win that one.:D

Maybe Ill do a weeks worth first then ask for a poll.....maybe as king of the forums you could swing it for me

I won?...is this a "pwn"?

lolling....did you know Oasis used Antorias on wonderwall?

of course you did...you know everything :D

Nope didn't know that. I thought they just had them in the video.

Didn't see any "early 70's Anturia 12 string" guitars though.

Oasis did raise the profile of a decent 70's entry brand. Sadly it didn't raise the value too much. Fifty five quid, final offer. Can't say fairer than that can I?

I dont have one....its random...

now I need to start a thread about the time I tried to sell an Imperia bass

did you know that Flowered Up used an Imperia bass on their hit 45 "Its On"?

and its worth 200 quid...I thought you knew about guitars? what a rip off merchant you are <shakesdahead>

Im awaiting an answer on the other thread in the other forum...hurry along now

To you it may be to me it's worth £55 or 75 px. You can walk away from the deal but I'll be gutted if you do.:o
