Hey guys check out my new album. You can download it for FREE of charge, but I also have it hosted over at sound click. Click through it so I can get some good placement in the charts and help to promote my devious work!

Feel free to tell me what you think about it. It was one of those things where I got to the point where I was just going to have to call it done, flaws and all. I'm happy with the way it sounds although I'm sure there is room for improvement. Maybe in 10 or 20 years when it's a cult classic I'll remix it and add the several songs that didn't make it on the album. The Extended version... ;)

The flatulator intro reminded me of the intro to Roxy Music's Love is the Drug.

I tried listening to the flatulator. Hell I like distortion and all...just not my thing I guess

I know not everyone will like it LOL. It's kind of abrasive, especially for all the old blues and classic rock cats around here. Then again Jimmy Hendrix was very abrasive to all the old red necks in Country & Western talking about that ol boy making noise and racket using the N word. :laughings:

The instruments sounded good to Me in "Burn the Flames"... Care to share equipment (guitars and drums) and vst's if used? :drunk:

I used a BC RICH NT BEAST (Drop tuned to B) and DI or plugged it into my FireStudio Moble by PreSonus lol. Then I loaded AmpliTube Metal and picked out 4 different presets in the "Extreme" folder that I thought sounded good. All I did to the pre-sets was rolled off the Bass to 0 which was very mild even at 0 and turned the treble up or down to 6.0.

So, there are 4 guitar tracks just for the rhythms. And the tones I used were drastic enough to make it sound pretty decent. I haven't had anyone say it sounds like you're using a plugin.

The drums are what they are. I used EZ drummer + Drum kit from hell + Libraries Of The Extreme midi pack. To me they sound fine, but others have expressed that they sound thin or weak. I pumped them up a little, but didn't have too many options. I'm happy with it. So, that's all that matters lol. Obviously you don't record music like this to become rich and famous. It's hard enough just getting people to listen much less buy it LOL.

The bass was DI as well. But I only used compression and EQ, no amp mods or anything.

By the time I got to the 2nd or 3rd song I had a real good idea of how the general layout of the songs and the volume levels, type of compression, EQ, Effects and Bus channels I would need and I turned it into a Template in Studio One Pro.

This may sound strange because I know how different most of you guys mix and master. I know most professionals experiment using every kind of amp you can think of, but I don't have options like that. Most people end up with a bunch of really off settings going from track to track, but It got real easy towards the end because I had very little tweaking left to do and was able to get a sound I was happy with. There is that very consistent sound from track to track with out all the hard work that most people go through.

There are a few things off or "mistakes", but nothing your average listener would catch. Don't get me wrong I did put a lot of work into it, but Studio One Pro made it easy compared to any other DAW out there. It was worth buying...

i liked studio one, i think ill get a presonus when its time to upgrade my interface

havent downloaded the album but i will and give it a good listen, i recognise some of the tracks from in here

halloween soundtrack to scare the trick or treaters away :)

New PreSonus stuff comes with studio one Artist and you have to pay $199 to upgrade it to pro. It's basically useless in the Artist version. Most the plug ins that come with it suck. No VST support in Artist and on top of that there is a ton of features not included in the Artist version. Like the whole Mastering section which is the main reason I bought the pro version.

I saw a video of how they used it and knew I had to have it. It's more of a luxury than anything else. Take into consideration that I recorded everything on my Windows 7 64bit gaming computer that's packed with power out the wazoo.

Pro Tools hardware sounds a tiny bit better than PreSonus, but not enough to matter. It's shameful Pro Tools still doesn't have 64 bit support. I waited for years before changing to Studio One...

i tried it out when they first released it but it was only $50 to upgrade it then....

Ive got a copy of windows 7 64 bit waiting to go on a new PC but i just bought a macbook pro and logic so learning its ropes..so it'll be a while

i think im more into learning new DAWs that recording lol

I hate having to relearn DAWs. I've done it several times and I don't even want to fuck with cubase lol.

I don't think I'll be changing from Studio One until some one invents the DAW that will analyze your recording and give you the most accurate mix beyond the capability of the human ear. It'll use pure science and also take into consideration common features of sound based on genre and also maximize it for the loudest possible settings without destroying too much of the dynamics of the audio.

I would pay $1000 just for the software once someone figures it out. I think they should get started on it though...

I forgot to mention panning. Because people make the mistake of not panning the 4 guitar tracks and then it just sounds muddy.

Basically GTR 1 & 2 were panned 100% To the Left and Right. GTR 4 was panned 53 Left, GTR 5 was panned 53 Right.

The drums were panned from the perspective of the audience.

I did not pan the kick, snare, bass, lead guitar or vocals and the main objective was making sure they weren't stepping on each other by using EQ etc. ;)

Cool - that's almost what I do, but, I need to add 2 more rhythm tracks... :drunk:

Remember there are no set rules in mixing. I just happened to like the sound of it set up like that.

Also, it takes a little longer to get all the tracks recorded. It's hard for anyone to play the whole song all the way through without screwing it up. Punching in and out or looping perfected rhythms will cut down the amount of work you have.

You will notice a nice HUGE guitar sound when you have at least 4 rhythm tracks. You can't just copy and past the same track over 4 times lol. You have to record 4 separate tracks ;)

Well dude, I'm no blues or classic rock dork, but I sat through about as much as I could stand, and I gotta say, it aint very good. If you're happy with it, then I'm happy for you, but it needs a lot of work still. It's real thin. :o

It's fine for what it is dude lol. I never claimed it to be the best or anything. It may be lacking some depth compared to your stuff, but it sounds as good as anyone Else's shit.

There are a lot of worse recordings out there. I learn as I go, just like everyone else...

For sure dude, I'm just saying you could have made it better with a little more time. It aint terrible, it's just a little hard on the ears. I can't listen to it loud. :(

My reason for doing it was 50% fun and 50% to learn new stuff. To put it simple I'm not sure I would know what to do from this point and I'm afraid if I make too many changes I'll screw something up and it'll be worse than it is hahaha. I didn't really base it off any other recordings which I should of because then I probably wouldn't have missed some of the depth that's not there.
