Crying...Please help ;(

I was going to get a few wall hangers for a few of the guitars I have however after reading this thread I decided to not get wall hangers.

Sorry to hear about your guitars...:(

Install them correctly and they're fool-proof. I'm not saying mikeeb is a fool, I'm just saying they work fine when installed properly. I know several people that use them and have had guitars hanging on their walls untouched for years. One of them being a big ass heavy Aria Pro neck-thru bass. I'd use them myself if my walls weren't covered with acoustic panels and shit.

Wall hangers are fine if they are put up correctly and sited where the guitar wont get knocked. Of all the accidental damage I see by far the worst culprit are stage stands, dim lighting and clumsy band members or ancillary staff.

All that said the best and safest place for a guitar when not being played is stored away in its case.

You cover your walls in shit..

I use slot board and display hangers I got from a music store. I've had Les Pauls and others hanging for years. My fear is headstock slip. I'm thinking about getting a couple 7-git floor stands and just hanging cables and stuff on the wall.

Mutt is right about cases of course but if I keep 'em there I may never see them again.

I agree if installed properly the wall hangers should be fine.

Music stores have guitars hanging all over the place so Im sure it can be done safely if done right.

accidental damage cover on your home insurance???

most only cover up to a certain value but if it's there, use it.

How badly did you fudge the hanger installation to cause an acoustic guitar to be too heavy for the hanger and crash to the ground?

My guess: Trial positioning, not even screwed into the wall, maybe suspended on a picture hanger or with double-sided tape.

Exactly..I was checking out how it looked and nailed one of the screws in. I turned around to grab my hammer and another screw and thats what it fell. Before I put my guitar up, I pulled on it to make sure it was sturdy =/

This is why I suggested you shouldn't attempt the repair yourself.;)

Yeah your right, this just sucks so bad ha. I am an idiotttttt.
When i purchased the guitar, I bought the guitar center pro warranty. Will this cover the cracks? Is there anything I should say other than it fell off the wall that will allow them to fix it for me? I am against lying but I don't pirate, I don't neglect, I just made a mistake. Heres the link to the plan

man ..... you're asking the wrong people. You need to call and ask GC, your homeowners insurance if you have any and so on.
We'd like to help but how can we? We don't make insurance or warranty decisions.

And did you actually say you nailed a screw in?
Definitely don't try to do the repair yourself.

Let us know what happens ....... I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya' because I know this sucks but I have a secret for you ........ most of us here have learned lessons by having something sucky happen.

Thanks man. I am still in fucking class so when I get out im going to call them. I guess I am just trying to see if anyone has any idea of what I should even say. And Idk why I said screw. it was a nail hah

Man I don't know. Hanging a guitar on the wall is just about the same as sitting your child on the rail of a three story balcony .... I just would never do it.
I hope that this has a happy ending.

Nah, I've got thirteen guitars hanging on wall hangers in the studio. Solid as a rock. You just have to go into real wood. I put horizontal cross beams between all my studs at just the right height, so I'd always have a real hanging plate to screw into.

So just in case anyone is also stupid and searches this, it is NOT covered under my warranty. Guitar center wants like $400 to fix it, so I guess its sitting in my closet until I can save up that money. Oh well, lesson learned...
