..last night at my gig. The original Star Trek battle music. :D He also co composed the Roots soundtrack with Quincy Jones and a bunch of other classic 60's and 70's tv show music (mission impossible, gilligans island...) . Cool dude. 82 years old.

Maybe embed isn't working. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dnZHea_TI0

You met Gerald Fried? Wow, I'm jealous. I actually did a report on the cultural influences of black film composers for school once. Gerald Fried, Quincy Jones, and Terrence Blanchard. Besides Roots and a few Star Trek episodes, Fried scored Stanley Kubrick's earliest films. Wow, must have been a real treat!

When I first read the post, I thought you meant you met Theodore Sturgeon, but he's dead... :D

Hey Steve ... that is a great piece of music and very recognizable if your a trekie.
I have always thought that it resembled the wicked witch of the west guard theme music when they are marching into the castle. But that's just me.

Yeah, he was awesome and very friendly. He came up to me and complimented my playing and was clapping after every song. :D Then I talked to him a little about his career, later, after his step son in law told me.. I didn't know him but he looked like a Hollywood guy.

Yeah, I love 60's and 70's tv music. I'm not a trekie but I was raised in that era, so it's familiar anyway. :)

He did some Lost in Space episodes too. Sounds similar.
