Hi, I recently purchased a few cables of ebay titled as "mogami gold cables". Shopping for more cables a week later, I found out there's mogami gold studio and mogami gold stage. My question is, how can I differentiate between the two? I'm running a project studio, so I plan to use only studio cables. Is there a number or a tab on the gold studio cables labeling them as gold studio?

Studio is apparently quad cable, which is more resistant to interference. Oddly, you would want that more for stage use where cable runs are much longer . . . either should work fine in a studio.

The difference in the cables is price. Anything else is marketing BS.

No, quad cable has a demonstrated superior resistance to induced interference, but it generally doesn't matter unless you are in an adverse environment, especially with cable runs longer than 100 ft.

I can see something to the quad cable thing, but it really irks me about the "gold" connectors, and 10 gauge wire crap. I think Monster were the first scammers in this.

Now I saw guys going into furture shop and spending $200 on speaker wire, I mean premium cables for their surround system because it sounds so much better when you dock your ipod and listen to mp3's!!

So with an Electromagnetic pulse the radiation would put all bets off. Unless the cabling has for it's shielding lead of a certain thickness.:D

Well, this is the one place the 10ga Monster cables would be better. When you see the mushroom cloud, you wrap one around your neck, then plummet out the nearest window. Now if you live in the basement of your parents house, well, do it anyway!:laughings:

True ..... the fall out of a basement window isn't as nearly a death blow as from a few stories up.:laughings:
