Recording Using a computer

Hi everyone, this is my first post, and Im also a noob

I am a guitar player and I wanted to record 2 guitar tracks and then mix them, I am using Sony SoundForge 9, but the problem is that I am new recording and I don't have any idea on how to get the 2 guitar tracks to match with the same tempo so that they both sounds when they are supposed to, can anyone give me any advice?

Soundforge isn't a DAW, it's an audio editor. You need to get something like Reaper, Cubase, etc... That will allow you to multi-track instruments.

As far as getting everything to line up, you would use the metronome feature in the DAW to keep time for you.

Reaper is free to try and cost something like $50 if you want to get rid of the nag screen. It's very functional and well supported.

+1 on the Reaper. A company that actually listens to its users, gives them a non crippling "demo" to make sure they like it and constantly updates it? I know, crazy. But for real, I am a diehard REAPER fan and after the initial learning curve, you glyde through it!

reaper rules. Been using it for about 3 years now. The "trial" version is completely uncrippled and a license is only $60. WELL worth it! So, what equipment are you using to get your guitar into the computer? What are you using to listen to your recordings?

awesome. I paid $40 for version 1.something couple years ago. I think the license gets you upgrades through 2 full versions, so I'm still on the last verson of 2.x... I'm gonna upgrade!

You'd think with a handle like 'grimtraveller' I'd be using Reaper ! If I ever go the computer route however, Reaper and grim shall once again be joined........
