i was wondering if anyone could explain how to go about putting a VST sampler/replacer to use. i've got a few songs worth of drum tracks that were good takes that have less than stellar tones, so i downloaded some VSTs. i have no midi experience whatsoever and after screwing around with a couple different plugins for a couple of hours, i haven't made much progress at all.
for whatever reason, i've only been able to successfully install these two:
shortcircuit: http://vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php
and
grizzly: http://www.maketunes.com/articles/freeware-vst-drum-machine-grizzly
so i get em loaded up in my DAW (Acid 4.0) and can't figure out where to go from there. i have a directory of decent freeware samples i downloaded, but i've got no clue how to implement them using a sampler.
it seems like they assign each separate kit sample (snare, kick, etc) to a different note on the synth keyboard (right?), but i don't see anything that would appear to trigger that note/sample based on my pre-recorded tracks. if anyone could point me in the right direction, that'd be pretty rad. thanks
