Hey,

So I did this one a year or 2 ago on my 8 track cassette and wanted to revisit it with I guess a bigger production or something...

I asked kcearl if he would be willing to add some electronic weirdness and thankfully he oblidged. I really like what his additions did to the sound and he was very patient with me as I struggled mightily with, ummm....technical issues :o.

Anyway, here is what I have so far. I think I'm in the ballpark with this one, but would appreciate any input...Thanks :D!

Freakin' awesome dude. I like the hell out of this one, especially as I open another "Can of Beer." LOL. This is like gonna be my new theme song. (I love me beer). I've listened like four or five times now and like it better each time. The can opening at the beginning is brilliant. You and Earl make a good team on this stuff. Happy jamming. :)

Also, I love the way you put the Pabst Blue Ribbon in KC's mouth on the soundclick page. That's awesome.

Cool tune, good mix has a nice spread. Its really groovin towards the end. Good Job. Thanks for posting.

Nice. Got that HeatM. vibe going all the way. Funny to hear the vocals on either side of the drums like that, but it works. I like KC's additions and that he didn't take it over the top. Something like that could have easily slipped into overkill, but he didn't and it came out great.

cool.

Thanks Trump! I'm really glad you enjoyed it :).
I didn't warn him about the picture...uh, he does look pretty mean too.

Thanks for checking it out and offering some reassurance PDP!

Great, thanks for checking in Chili. Yup, the vocals were even further apart initially but I pulled 'em in some...kind of odd sounding still. KC really did a lot with very little. I sent him basically scratch tracks from which he constructed all kinds of intricate little segments. It helped me a great deal.

great job Pete the heat!

great mix and i love this wee tune.....going onto my mp3 player for beers in the sun by the pool...your stuffs quickly becoming my summer soundtrack :D

oh yeah and the pics a classic...i feel a new avatar moment :D

I'VE BEEN WAITING AND IT FINALLY CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha, sounds awesome. I really dig the drums on this song. The little double snare then cymbal hit seems to be used too much though. Also, I like the little electronic things KCearl added. Makes it somewhat radio-friendly. :laughings: :D

Really awesome. This and the original are great in their own ways.

Nice song. A little repetitive melody, but nothing horrible.

I love how the whole thing goes mono and low fi at :50 and then cuts back. That was really cool.

I thought the drums sounded much wetter than the rest of the tracks. After a bit of listening I stopped noticing. But at the beginning of the song it was noticeable.

The overall mix was a little on the bright side. That's kind of the timbre with the slide guitars thought.

Didn't care of the hardpanned lead vocals. Probably not a big deal listening on a stereo or in the car. But on headphones it's a bit distracting.

edit - I liked the effects at the end. They supported the song well.

Thats a great tune - reminds me a little of old Pink Floyd and a little of Coconut Recrds

- it's really a great song man - I would add that to my home "chill out" mix - can I download the mp3 from that site or somewhere?

HAH! I love this! Wow.... Totally captured the feeling of the title of the song (I imagine)... Oh, wow... Yeah, I'm diggin' this!

The vocals are spot on, in tone and lyrics... Wow.. Yeah, this is amazing.

Guitars are perfect.

Drums are very, very well done. I think they're programmed, only due to some very sparse details.. Drums sound awesome.

Thanks for sharing! Two thumbs up!

Great stuff here guys!
Had me dancing around....not naked dancing like with KCs solo material ...but dancing anyways. :D

Ha! You've heard this one so much already that I'm just happy you stuck with it. Thanks again for all of your help. Really very fun for me despite all the difficulties. :)

Thanks so much squibble. This one had to be redone. I began wanting it to sound more like the original, but just better. Instead it became whatever this is. Certainly a different thing :).

I agree the drums, while kind of busy at times, are a little repetitive. I'm using what are essentially loops and ran out of variations somewhere in there...

Yes, I am very happy with kc's work on this - everything I asked of him and more.

Cool. Thanks so much for your thoughts man. Your posts are always so succinct and objective. I really appreciate it.

Yes, probably much too simple, but I really struggle with melodic elements in general. On this I tried to offset the simplicity with lots of subtle variation and layering. I wish I could come up with less conventional stuff without getting all avante garde or whatever. I have a lot to learn in that area.

ANd yes, the drums are pretty roomy. I turned the room mics way down this time, but the overheads provide not only the cymbal sound I wanted, but add to the bulk of the drum sound in general. I need to figure out how to balance the two still.

That lo-fi mono filter effect is all kc - I just had to figure out where to erase all of my stuff to make it fit! :D Thanks again for listening.

EXCELLENT remake.
I enjoyed the noodles of electronica greatly - slight touches of what the Residents did with Mars Attacks etc.
Cool as...

Really nice! I haven't heard the original, so it's fun to speculate about exactly what KC added.

Sounds great on my system - I like the panned vox.

Like arcadeko maybe I hear a little Atom Heart Mother, which is kickass.

If I had an ipod, this would go on it.

Sounds really good guys. No nits from me. :)

Cool. Thanks Greg. No nits is good nits.

Thanks arcadeko :). I'm really glad you liked it.

You should be able download it right from the soundclick player with the downward arrow...

Awesome. Thanks P.I. Love the enthusiasm :).

The drums are actually patched together loops, but they have 8 separate tracks, so they're pretty versatile mix-wise. Thanks again!

Ha! Thanks fellow new englander...I am simultaneously repulsed and encouraged by your comment.

Hah....a new sound is born: tartanheatmisery!:D
Really like this Pete and KC's little touches have added a zany colour to it. Everything sounds great, mix and performance! Well done guys, you oughta collab more....;)
