I'm stuck in the military with no real space (and no real security of being in one place too long) so this is all pretty hypothetical for now . . . .

But I've seen plans for buildings like this (and this company even sells kits) and I thought it'd be a pretty bad-ass little studio.

the videos pretty lame, but it shows the inside and what not.

My thoughts would be to put the "control room" in the loft with the live room down below. I love old/analog gear so I'd run the remotes to the decks down to the performance area.

What do you think? With proper treatment would this be a viable option? Or should I look for something different. (I don't mean this specific company/plan but the idea. Definately a similar size.)

is the lack of response because it's a great idea and you are all marveling at it? or a bad idea that you are all amazed I was dumb enough to come up with or just because it's still hypothetical? I'd really like to get some feedback on the ideas behind it. I love to plan these things out so I can work towards them.

I do truly apreciate all the info you all share daily. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Merci.
Gracias.
Etc.

You may want to go check out a finished version...I don't think there's a hell of a lot of *working* room in that loft (probably more of kids room type of thing)...not to mention that the angled ceiling/walls would wreak havoc on your mixing/audio. You would chew up what little space there is with treatment that corrects the problems posed by the angles.

But...it's nice little cabin!!!

That's not crazy. I've actually designed a couple of spaces very much like that. Larger, but similar in terms of layout.

I was in the Army for the better part of 10 years. I feel your pain.

I'm not so crazy about THIS PARTICULAR ONE . . . just the concept behind it. I'll probably find some plans that I can customize so that my loft is big enough to accomodate the treatment/work space. I just like the idea of recording in a cabin. I don't know why. I'd finish the inside so that it was a nice room. I'm just kind of stuck on it. But I wont do it just to do it if it wouldn't sound good.

Right, it'd probably be larger (but not by a ton) the layout is the idea I'm chasing.

I have seen some loft studios...but yeah, they were quite larger than the cabins on the website and had enough working room and space for acoustic treatment.

I think those cabins might only have standing room available in the center/peak of the loft looking at the overall size of the cabins pictured...???

Now...if you stuck two side-by-side... :)
